AW vs. FK 425

I just received my gallon of FK 425 so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I bought AW after reading all the positive comments and my first bottle is almost empty. Can someone explain the difference between the two? I know one is more of a WOWO spray wax and the other is a QD. I guess what I'm looking for is what is the difference in terms of looks and durability between the two. Secondly, would a "blend" of the two work? Thanks for all the experience and knowledge - I hope 425 is as good as the AW advice.

IMO, you answered your own question accurately. I have never mixed the 2, though I have mixed AW and DG 521 and it works well. Try a small bottle and see.

rob, you need to try some! there is a carquest on mission blvd (right next to where the old club metro used to be), that's where i purchase my DG products. you'll have the best of both worlds, an awesome QD (FK425) and Spray Wax (AW)... :2thumbs:

I have both too. AW has the edge on 425 in terms of durabilty, but 425 seems to leave a slicker finish. Shine/Gloss are about the same in my eyes.

Hey do you guys dry the car first and then spray it on buff and buff off or do you spray the AW on the car while its still a little wet?

I always dry the car completely before I use AW. I think AW and 425 are great products. I have both and love them.

I always finish my washes with AW followed with 425...looks great!

Sounds like a plan. AW first, followed up with 425. Do the rest of you pick one or the other after a wash?

AW is a spray sealant and should be used no more than monthly to avoid muting colors. #425 adds little protection but provides an anti static, slick, and shiny surface. It can used as needed or whenever you feel like it. Nice look but little durability.

I use #425 after a wash n vac to add bling to the finish and to remove any streaking from the wash. Where I live you can't dry the car quick enough to avoid streaking.

Well, I am considering buying some UPGP (with the current 20% off coupon), and this seems it would be as easy to use as AW...although obviously more expensive.

rob... if you ever get a chance, buy a bottle it's only $6-$7 and if you don't like it, it's not really a big loss. i like this stuff so much, i'm going to buy a gallon...

Anybody have any free shipping codes or the like for Finish Kare. I tried AW on the advice of these boards and it is most definetly a staple now. I love it.

One question, if the gloss is the same between AW and FK425, why use the 425 since AW lasts longer? Just wondering.

I don't think there are any FK codes but isn't their shipping still $4.95 no matter what you order?

What color is your car Al? Some others have said that AW can darken colors and slightly mute the metallic flake in Silver.
