Autopia is Making me rethink

What I want to invest in. I have been a long time car wash/wax fan. Last year I started reading up on Zaino. Everything I read and everything I saw made me want to try it even more. I still havent bought any though, money has been on the tight side. Since joining autopia I have almost changed my mind. I am now really leaning twards the Optimum line up, and its a tone cheaper. My question is how do the optimum products stack up against Zaino? I've tried NXT 2 and don't like it much. I do want to go the sealant route though. Im not so much concerned about durability cause I like to wax at least once a month, but how does the optimum shine compare to the zaino shine. I've read alot about prep and that it has the most to do with how the final product looks, So would I really be gaining anything buy using Zaino over optimum on a well prepped surface? Plus I really like what I read about ONR.
 
As long as the paint is properly prepped, your choice of LSP should be what you personally think looks best. Both Optimum and Zaino have good product lines. The only sealant Optimum has is Opti-Seal while Zaino has Z2, Z5 and Z-CS. Opti-Seal and Z-CS are both super user frlendly since they are wipe on and walk away products. Z2/5 are more conventional sealants in that you apply them, allow to dry/haze, then come back and buff off. Some people think Zaino is plasticky looking, to me it has more of a wet glass look but that is the look most sealants have. Opti-Seal is similar in appearance, maybe trades some of the hyper-reflections you get with Zaino for a slightly softer, wetter look.



I think Opti-Seal is the best value going when it comes to sealants. 1 bottle usually does about 80-90 cars for me.



Another sealant to consider is the Werkstat line. Very durable products and a very definite "look" to them.

then why do you want a sealant?
 
The answer is in your question. Prep is the key. Pick something that fits your budget, style, time constraints, and so on. Either of the two products you mentioned will do the trick on a well preped car.

If you're looking to stay budget minded and like the look of a sealant, you might want to give Mother's Reflection or SynWax a try. At worst, if you don't like the look, it didn't set you back too much.
