Autopia Is Back Better than Ever

^ look next to the last post at each thread and you'll see some of the members who last posted and inside the threads as well. slowly but surely more will hopefully start coming back. if they choose not to.. adios then, what do you do...

What do you do?

How about learn how to fix problems with the site about 20x faster? The email notification system *still* isn't working.

How about being more pro-active when you know that members computers are at risk because your site has been attacked, and give them a heads up about what is going on, and taking the site down yourself before members computers become infected?

Also, how about the owners showing a little more humility than what was shown in the original post in this thread (as many others have already mentioned).

How about going back to the prior version of the forum, as it appears that is what the vast majority of members prefer?

Having said all that, I do hope things get back to normal around here soon. But it seems that is too optimistic.

hopefully they are working on it (yes, it's been slow and we can keep complaing all we want) and that's all that you can hope for. many people have complaints and rightfully so, but until then all you can do is sit back and hope for the best until it gets resolved in all aspects. like i said before (pertains to anyone), if you don't want to visit the site until things are completely resolved, then don't...

I prefer to be optimistic and positive about the whole ordeal. Yes, we've experienced a few set backs, but things appear to be back to quasi-normal. I really believe the new owners are trying thier best and have high expectation for this place. If we support them then we can all gain and the place can grow. Bottom line, the forum is what you make of it. It's your own darn fault that things are slow. For crying out loud why not start a new thread or help another member out. I think it's rediculous how a few people(and I'm being general) are really trying to propel negative energy as if they have some kind of agenda. Quite shocking how some veteran members can really just turn their back on this place. Grow some thicker skin for crying out loud. Autopia is the greatest detail forum on-line and will remain being so. If you want to sit on the sidelines cheering for the other team then be my guest. I could really care less.

.....and that's fine Al, I can definitely appreciate that attitude. I agree with you here.

Agreed & well said.

I was fortunate enough to not get hit by the disaster. The only sign I had that something was amiss was that the page did not load correctly and the blue header area was purple.

Mr Tomlin, were you hit by this?

All: Let's all get back to arguing about what product(s) is/are best...:grinno:

It is not unusual for people to leave forums in a huff over something (insufficient ego stroking by forum owners, banning, arguing over nit points, posts that are not to their liking. etc). Several forums were started this way.

Sure Al, I'm quite aware of that. That's why there's an over abundance of forums fueled with agendas and power tripping dictators. Autopia, because "It's Back Better than Ever" isn't like that. To me that's very important.

I'm still not getting any email notifications. Nothing is really fixed and I don't understand how anyone thinks "Autopia is back better than ever".

You guys should stop 'high-fiving' each other and stop criticizing members who have legitimate complaints.

I've been a loyal member longer than you and don't appreciate being mocked for not having "thicker skin".

In case you haven't picked up on it, the problem isn't the tech glitches caused by outsiders, it's the appalling lack of communication.

I can understand "veteran members" leaving when treated this way. Don't criticize them, criticize the those who refuse to communicate.

hopefully we can move forward and learn from past mistakes while improving/resolving any issues as we go along. if some do not want to return here, that's there choice and so be it...

Exactly right.

Still no email alerts.

None here either.

Is *anyone* receiving email alerts to subscribed posts?

Is this not a big deal to other people? I just don't understand.

We are told by the admin in this thread that the email alerts were fixed. Not true!

Are they still looking into this? Are they aware that the problem still exists? Do they care?

It appears our hosting provider disabled the settings over the weekend for allowing the forum to send emails when we asked them to update our sendmail program. It should be working now.

And apparently we do care, look at threads, fix problems as they come up, and offer a free forum for your use. Thanks for not noticing.

If anyone is still having issues, please check:

Notification Type:

- Control Panel Only

- Immediate, Sends Email

- Daily, Send Email once a day if updates.

- Weekly, Sends Email once a week if updates.

Also, be sure it is not going to your spam folder.

Thanks for the response/update.

I will see if my email alerts are working.

I was checking the server logs. There are several people who subscribe to this thread who appear to have an incorrect email address or have a spam filter that is bouncing emails. This includes: Auto Concierge, Kean, vmunoz, and landcruiser.

Please check:

1. Be sure the email address in the control panel is correct.

2. Add webmaster@autopia.org or the domain autopia.org to your spam filter whitelist

3. Check your spam folder for emails from webmaster@autopia.org. If there are, look for a "not Spam' option.

You should then start seeing your subscribed thread emails.
