Autopia Connect!

I took a page out of Ron`s book and I had two boxes unopened until last night - I just couldn`t take the suspense anymore

and I realized im missing something. drat!
 
I`ve got those same withdrawals. It is just not as fun anymore. Now I have to wait for a sale to feed my addiction. I need some Menzerma and now I have to start the site shopping again. I haven`t bought much from anywhere but Autopia in a long while. Bring back Connect!
 
It seems like they should be able to modify it somehow. Something like:

5.00 flat rate shipping for orders under 100.00, free above 100.00.

Additional 10% off, not to exceed 25% off when combined with other sales.

1.5 times bonus points.

Etc.


I understand when it was all said and done this program was probably a losing proposition, or big hit to the profit margin for them, but I think if they tweak it everyone would be happy, what do y`all think???
 
I`m guessing the people that got on board with it were people that would have bought anyway.

Who knows they may have had a bunch of people sign up and order a 5 dollar thing every other day causing not much profit. After paying packers and shipping costs.

I do know high volume business get very discounted rates through the shipping companies. Heck the companies fight for the business for the volume.

Free shipping is king look at amazon and prime. Yep they made changes by doing the "add on item" for low cost stuff but there is a still a heavy majority of free shipping items. I know they don`t have anywhere near the same volume of orders that amazon does but people love free shipping even if a 14.99 retail item was increased to 17.99 free shipping would cause someone to order it instead of being asked to pay 8 bucks shipping

Very good points. In my case I used Autogeek for years, then something happened no need for details. I swore of PBMG all together. Then I came across this program. I figure the different "businesses" under PBMG have their own bonus program so I could buy from PBMG without directly supporting AG. I ran a multi million dollar retail store for years. Just my opinion, but giving me product that retailed for about the same amount as my membership when I joined wasn`t necessary, and later discounting the membership cost...prematurely in my opinion...was a mistake. I think if they would have stuck to their guns on price and not done the giveaways for signing up it would have been a little slower taking off, but word of mouth would have gotten them where they wanted to be without sacrificing the profit. Again just my opinion. I honestly think they can come up with Connect 2.0 that would be a win win situation...
 
Obviously its much more difficult to come up with than anyone on gods green earth would think. Its been dead for a while and there is still no word.
 
i can tell you the death of connect has me not checking ag and acc site first thing every morning

and has already saved me at least $75 so far in preordering sema stuff lol

Ditto..I found some items on ebay i was looking for, fair price and free shipping.
 
I have about five days left on my Connect membership, and I`m sad to see it expire.

I believe I can recover the savings by buying gift certificates, using those during sales, and making sure my orders total enough for minimum shipping.

I had a thought the other day, that Autopia could become the wholesale arm of PBMG.

Ray, is there any news about Connect one way or the other, or is the whole thing still undecided?

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but ACC should at least inform us about status either yea / na. My connect ended but with Geek sales and some free shipping I have got enough Gyeon products :)

Would be such a deal still. I just made a mock order on AG yesterday and for two items totally around $65. Products mind you not big equipment it was $18.95 shipping lol. No thanks think I would wait for a sale or order elsewhere you can`t tell me it costs 19 bucks to send CKUK and Essense to a continental us state. Probably retail ups or FedEx price before a business discount like 8-9 tops.

Yeah, I`d a been gooned as well. The only thing that keeps me from small orders (i.e a set of 6 pads) is the ridiculous shipping based upon order value. For example, was thinking of grabbing a set of HD Pads at the AG 25% sale (free shipping over $100)...the shipping costs were nearly equal to the discount amount...no sale. $18.95 to ship 6 foam pads?

Shipping:$18.95
Tax:$0.00
25% savings:-$19.49

Another supply house who uses USPS to ship smaller items woulda charged me $3.95 to ship and I woulda got it in 2-3 days. And they currently have the pads on sale anyway, total order for above woulda been $51.29.

Bottom line is that unless you meet thresholds or catch a low/free shipping deal, it`s a deal killer for me on `impulse` items; if connect had free shipping always, I`d likely have twice as much stuff as I do now. And half as much money in the bank.
 
All. It`s a balancing act , if you could look at it from a different POV. When AG runs promos/free shipping, they EAT the shipping cost. Granted, I`m sure they have some level of discount based on their volume contract. Then you get into real weight vs. dimensional weight with the shippers. At bare minimum, it must cost them $5-8 MINIMUM for the smallest item/box they ship. Someone`s got to pack the product. PBMG uses nice THICK cardboard boxes....etc.

USPS is a joke, so they`re not even in contention IME for shipping...
