I see a few people have managed to signup.

Josh, what error do you get when you try to browse to the link?

Charlie, I don't know what your problem is. I will try to add you and see what happens.

Charlie, I was able to add you with no problem. I suspect you were entering your forum password and not your forum email address.

David: When I try to go to the website it takes about 40 seconds and then I get an error saying Unable to connect

"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ratings.theperfectshine.com:82."

Josh,

Thanks. I did not test w/ Firefox. I will and see if I can fix the problem. In the meantime, if you have IE, it should work for you.

UPDATE:

I'm testing with FireFox now and it loads just fine. All I see are a few formatting issues with a table. What version of FireFox are you using? What OS?

I didn't submit my name, but I was able to navigate to the page using Firefox, and everything looked OK on the surface . . . not sure what Joshua312 ran into.

David,

I tried with IE as well and had the same problem, it must be the server filter I am using right now. I am using a wi-fi public access hotspot right now so sometimes it does funny things. I will try again when I get home...thank you!

Here's what I got....

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: "Operation timed out"

The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

Is this contest (sweepstakes) also open to non-US residents? :nervous2:

YES! The winner receives a $50 gift certificate. As long as you live in one of the counties Autopia Car Care ships to, you're in like flint!

Bad news Kikkomann... we don not currently ship to the PI. We may soon, as I am working on better fraud prevention. Enter anyway, because I can work with you if you win.

A little help on the error you're getting and I might be able to track it down.

TIA!

I had trouble accessing the page here at school. So I remotely access my home computer ( http://www.logmein.com ) and it brought up the page with no problems.

Web browsers like firefox or IE didnt make a difference either here or at home.

I believe the issue stems down to DNS ( dynamic naming services.) I think some ISPs DNS are having trouble decoding your URL because of the :82 in it. David you could either give the IP ( xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:82/contest.asp ) possibly or you users that are having problems could try using http://www.opendns.com/ as your dns server. of course this doesnt solve problems users have in public places like work and school.

I tried doing a look up but this didnt work.

67.15.4.16:82/contest.asp

Good point. This is a temporary location for the page. I coded the program in a few hours in ASP. I don't have ASP on the autopia.org server and the Yahoo Store that www.autopia-carcare.com is on has no scripting at all.

I will look for a better solution. Thanks for the tip that it might be a DNS problem.

P.S., If you ping ratings.theperfectshine.com:82 it works fine. You don't ping the page itself.
