Autopia Attacked my Computer???

No - I didn't really even see a new thread or an apology. Just a post in an existing thread stating they killed the beast or something. I would have expected a little more of an explanation/apology, though. There's absolutely no new posts over there. I wonder as word gets out if people will go back and get active as before.

one thing they did say in their post was that it was a VBulletin vulnerability or something to that effect - so if I were running DC, I'd definitely be looking into my security measures and such.

vbulletin or any other web application is vulnerable since that is what gets hacked. It is up to the admins to monitor activity, etc. You cannot just set it up and let it run.

With all the recent issues (vbulletin upgrade, server switch, responding to this latest issue), they did not seem to react very fast. They should have taken the site down asap once the reports started coming in.

Autopia's loss is everyone else's gain.

Correct. There are measures that can be taken to minimize the risk factors, but you can't completely secure any web server to the point that it will require no maintenance or monitoring.

I agree 100%. To continue to let forum member's computers get infected was not good. :passout:
