Automatic Car Wash Scratches?

Hey there,

I just had a woman call me that had ran her burgundy truck thru an auto car wash...only ONCE. I have a cyclo and was wondering if that would be alright to remove the scratches? Also needing to know what products to use to remove them. Thanks for any help.

That is why I asked her how many times she ran her truck thru.

Would it be very bad by just running it thru once?

She is on her way here now to let me look at it and give her a price.

Yes it would be very bad after once. I ran my black Civic thru one once when I first got it and I have spent the last week trying to get them out. I could not get most of them out after 5 coats of polish! Yes 5!! The car shines like a mo fo now though. :up

She just came up and I saw it. Uh-oh! looks like she has been thru it more than once.

I was just wondering what to use to get it to shine & get the scratches out. I have some Megs #9 2.0, will that work?

You'll be able to get the small stuff but not anything anymore significant. If you are using using a rotary or DA then you might be able to make a significant improvement.

Start off with the polishing pad, see what you can get out. Move up to the cutting pad and it may just be enough. If not, move up the woolie and you might be pleasantly surprised.

What else do you have available to you? DACP or 3M's Perfect III might be needed.

Good luck

I believe you will need something more than #9. I recently tested out a product called DACP Dual Action Cleaner POlish which is a #5 on a scale of 1-10. While this product is abrasive it still wasnt enough to remove the swirls from the harsh winter washes.

Maybe diamond cut or light cut, power prep from top of the line.

My 2cents
