Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover

After hearing some good feedback about this product, I went to buy this product last night. It is pretty expensive for this kind of product.

Firstly, I tested this product using cotton cloth on rubber/plastic trims to remove some wax residue and road tar. It works! Simply dab a few drops on the cloth and swipe over the surface. Road tar instantly dissolves as the bottle labeled.

Secondly, I want to test the ability of this product to remove the bonded contaminant (tiny black dirt) on the boot of the car. These dirts are not removable using paint cleaner like Meguiar's Clear Coat Body Scrub. The black dirt doesn't come off easily, requires quite a lot of rubbing using Autoglym ITR. But one bad thing happened...at night I found out that some of the clear coat was etched by this product. This can be noticed under fluorescent light where the surface is uneven.

Is this product etching clear coat surface when applied too much and using higher pressure? Besides using clay bar, what other products should I try to remove those tiny black dirt?

Thanks for the feedback...

I doubt that the Autoglym could cause this type of damage, you will need some sort of mild compound to clean up the area.

I agree with you, the Autoglym is a very good product, but so is most of the range (dont like the shampoo).

I went out to the garden to check out the car paint surface under sunglight just now. I can confirm that this product caused the 'sink' of paint. Shouldn't have rubbed so much...it seems that the dirt is deep down in the paint...I think it requires some abrasive compound to remove'em.
