AutoGeek's DP line bothers me...

If my memory serve me correct. DP was in the market since in the early 90's. I think it been in business for 10 or more already.

True but this year involved a major relaunch and rebranding of the line...

I hope no one feels I am bashing AutoGeek as a whole...I think they are a very stellar vendor and I probably order more stuff from them than anyone. I just wonder if vendors do take advantage of our Autopian desire to accumulate more and more stuff and the instant hype that new products can receive on the board.

I never tried the old DP products so I don't know how they compare. It could just be that Autogeek simply improved and revamped the product line instead of dropping it altogether and adding to the Pinnacle or Wolfgang lines.

The DP products I have tried are as good as anything else on the market.

Scott,

Is the sealant as good as EXs from PB or Zaino?

By the way regarding earlier talk about it being a value line...scratch that, have you seen the prices? They are at least at PB and Wolfgang levels.

One example:

Pinnacle whell cleaner - $18/16oz

DP wheel cleaner - $10/32oz (essentially $5/16oz!)

Wolfgang wheel cleaner - $17/16oz

Are the Pinnacle and Wolfgang cleaners worth 3x as much as the DP? Why? They all claim to be safe on all types of wheels, gentle, VOC compliant, blah blah blah. I just feel like they're taking advantage of me if I buy the Pinnacle or Wolfgang brands.. so I won't buy any of them.

Well Souveran certainly crushes Max Wax.

The sealants are priced the same as others more or less...

DP Surface Shield is $16.95 for 16 ounces.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss $19.95 for 16 ounces.

Poorboys EX-P at $15.95 for 16 ounces.

Poorboys EX at $15.95 for 16 ounces.

Thats why you dont buy expensive wheel cleaner...I just dont feel it's worth it when you can just use a great working product that you can get OTCfor . I would feel taken advantage of if I bought Pinnacle, Wolfgang wheel cleaner or DP....thats why I dont.

As Autogeek keeps adding newer lines as well as distributing other lines, more and more people will keep shopping there and only there. If they distributed Menzerna and Clearkote, I really don't see why anyone would shop anywhere else, aside from giving their business to other people.

Just a little note ... I had to call a tech this week and ask some questions about my PC :buffing: while I had him on the phone I asked about what new items they had coming out. Seems Autogeek is going to possibly (was a little office rumor) going to be carrying Clearkote in the near future, as well as taking on a few more lines. All you have to do is email Max the owner and you will be very surprised how open to suggestions he is! :idea

Max@autogeek.net (got his email in a newsletter one time not sure it is on the site, but wont hurt for a few of us to email him our suggestions!)

I agree- the prices on some wheel cleaners is outragous. Tire dressings too. There are plenty of good OTC products that you can get that do the job for a lot less. Even the pro lines aren't always a bargain.

When it comes to appearance, ease of use and slickness, yes, every bit as good. Durability is claimed to be 3-4 months, so it won't last as long as Zaino or EX w/carnauba. However, the average person who waxes with the change of every season will have ample protection.

i spent a small fortune on alot of well known and unknown products. you can put down so much on a car, to a point where its perfect. i know what it takes to do a "perfect" shine. i stick to what works well and in what combination of order. imo, i know what works and i'll be buying the same products to replenish my supply with, even if someone else come up with a newer , better or improved idea.
