Autofiber Elite vs. Pinnacle Miracle MF towel

This is just an observation, but after receiving mf towels from most of the popular mf vendors this week (Pinnacle, PakShak, Autofiber, etc.), I have found that all of the towels are a little different in their own way EXCEPT for the Autofiber Elite Buffing Towel, and the Pinnacle Miracle Towel. These two towels, aside from being double the price from Pinnacle, seem to be asbolutely identical. Also, out of all the towels I received, these two towels seem to be the most useful out of the group. The texture, softness, and plushness is pretty much in the middle of everything. I have some not as soft or plush that I will be using for initial polishing steps, and others that are softer and plusher that I will be using for qd'ing and final wipedowns. Again, this is just an observation, but thought you guys would have like to know it.

I only have MF towels from Costco and AutoFiber. I agree with your assesment of the AutoFiber towels. Very soft and very plush. I have been told that the finest towels come from Korea and these seem to prove the point. I too am reserving these for my final finishing and QD'ing.

It's funny that it's been said several times for both MF's and clay that a very small number of manufacturers make them for everybody. This evening I was going through my recent MF purchases and found slight variations among them, as you did. It would seem that the few mfr's make the product to the reseller's specifications, so that there can be a huge diversity, explaining the seemingly endless permutations of price and description.

Seems like we consumers need a chart to show the flow of rebranded products...I don't mind people making a business from rebranding towels but should we pay a huge premium for it?

Maybe a chart that shows:

1. Original mfr

2. Brands offered

3. Any minor differences

4. Price of the lowest and highest of same product.

Just an idea....could be a cool FAQ but may take a while to put together...

The Sonus Buffing Towel

Yellow PakShak

I find these to be more plush and softer than the Miracle Towel.

I was actually trying to say that although I went into my "analysis" trying to determine which towels were the same at different prices, my conclusion was that they really are all slightly different, and that accounts for most of the price variation. For instance, I found one supplier had one product that was described and looked in the picture just like another that was noticeably more expensive. What I found was that the less expensive towel, although having the same look and basic design, was slightly thinner, accounting for it's slightly lower price. I haven't tried all the brands/suppliers, but I now lean more toward "you get what you pay for", obviously with some exceptions.

I really don't think it would be fair to name names, unless we were really doing a scientific analysis with towel weight, fibers/inch, etc. I mean I could be wrong about that towel being thinner...maybe the nap wasn't fluffed up as much :nixweiss , it's not like I did an objective measurement, only a subjective feel.

Read my original post. The Miracle Towel is identical to the Autofiber Elite Buffing Towel at half the price.

The yellow Pakshak towel (Ultra Fine) is actually too fine for polishing or buffing in my book. I will reserve this for qd'ing and final wipedowns.

I can pretty much tell that my "workhorse" towel is going to be the Autofiber Elite piece. It's pretty much perfect for everything I want to do.

For compounds I will be using the Pakshak Ultra towel and for final wipdowns, the Ultra Fine.

If Pakshak would just carry something between the Ultra and Ultra Fine, you wouldn't need to go anywhere else.

Thank you, JDookie. I was just fishing for more comparisons/examples.

I just ordered some more Pinnacle Miracle Towels from Autogeek. With their coupon code they actually end up being 17 cents each cheaper than Autofiber Elite.

"I love the plushness of the yellow Pakshak towel, great for QD's and final buffing."

The PakShak are the best towel as far as ultrafine I have found after ordering from about 6 different vendors. They are expensive but top quality.

Highly recommended. The make the ultrafine in a nice bright white now and I keep one in the Lexus for interior dusting - works terrific!

I'm going to try the Miracle today on my Autogeek discount.

I have almost religiously used the Autofiber elites as they were the first "good" microfiber that I bought and I then cashed in on the special of 5 elites and a pint of Micro-restore for $20. My only complaint about the towels is that sometimes I almost feel as though they're "too" plush and don't remove some products well enough. I recently recieved a couple of the cobra detailing cloths in my forum favorite kit and while not as plush as the elites they do a much better job of removing product from the paint. I"d pick more of these up if they weren't $8 each!!!

I haven't seen that Cobra cloth in the flesh, but I have used some other low-nap MF's that you might want to comparison shop: Meguiar's Ultimate Wipe, Excel Detail Edgeless, Poorboy's Work Towel.

I'm assuming that all of the above are safe for removing product from the paint? I'd order more low-nap "work" towels in an instant if I knew they were OK for the paint...I was even a little uneasy with the Cobra towels at first but it turns out they are excellent for this purpose. I just cannot justify the cost right now going into winter.

Turn the Elites over and use the low-nap side. That's what I do.

Another option is the Pakshak Ultra towels. They are a little thinner than the Elites and you get a nice discount from Rannie!
