The red spots you see below are areas reacting with heavy iron particles embedded in the wheel. This particular process is the best method of cleaning wheels on high performance cars such as this Audi S5. High performance break pads contain a large amount of iron which causes very dirty wheels, very quickly. And we wanted the wheels to be flawless prior to Opti-Coating them. After deironizing the wheels, I moved onto the paintwork which got washed, degreased, clayed, and also deironized prior to polishing.

Before applying Opti-Coat Pro it is recommended to be prepped with Optimum Primer. This is a very light polish that contains no residual oils. The polish will leave nothing behind besides a bare and properly prepped surface to apply Optimum's permanent coating. In this case, I still do an alcohol wipe down both before and after polishing. You can never be too careful!
