Audi RS6 - Full Works

Thanks for the kind words! My camera is a fairly basic Fuji Finepix F700 digital compact, but I have taken the time to learn to use it in manual mode, and control all the aperture and shutter speeds myself - I'm very pleased with the results it gives me now. It takes the images at 6MP, which also helps no end.

At the moment Clark and I are charging just £20 an hour, so around the $35 mark given the current exchange rate. We have only recently gone into business together, and have only just started tag teaming cars due to the winter/darkness coming on. We should really be charging a lot more, and this will soon become a reality; we will be moving into a new purpose built unit in the spring, which will serve as a home for both the detailing work and the website (I run an online UK car care site too). I expect our rates to increase to around the £30 an hour mark in the new year, and we will then start charging man hours worked rather than just total work time, so around $1000 sounds about right. The low rates at the current time have some benefits; no shortage of nice cars for the portfolio!

Thanks for being honest!!! I respect that. :thx :thx :thx

I guess it is time for me to read my camera's manual. :lol :lol :lol

I do appreciate seeing such good camera work.

No problem at all. Yep, learning the camera will make heaps of difference - mine is very average in the Auto mode. There is also no way I could take a lot of the low lighting shots in the Auto mode, as the depth of field would be non-existent - instead I set the aperture to at least F4, adjust the shutter speed accordingly and keep very still while I shoot. The last couple of shots were taken on very slow shutter speeds, and my days of controlling my breathing on rifle ranges helps no end! :D

Great turnaround on that car. I used to take care of one like that here in NY. My customer moved down to Florida last I he emailed me because he was going to detail the RS6 on his own. I am completing a new RS4 Saturday morning so lets see how I make out.

Wow! Your attention to detail is great. It really shows in your write ups and your pictures. :bow

Great job guys!

mmmmmm 450hp Bi-turbo V8

Godly, thats one clean RS6. Awesome job.

Is there any clear bra installed on that RS6?:nixweiss

what technique / formula did you use on the exhaust tips? I find that once they're stained like that, its tough to bring them back...and I've made the mistake (in my youth) of using a fine steel wool...really scratched it up!

Excellent detail mate, one of my favourite cars the RS6..

And another from Sunny Scotland, you must have done this about a month ago, because it's been raining in Glasgow for the past month :LOLOL

A little observation though. must have been a quality house builder. Skirting boards in the garage....Never seen that before..A true sign of wealth :p

Thanks! Nope, no bra's here in the UK, well, apart from on some show VW's maybe, but bra's just aren't popular at all over here. :)

Ultimate German Applicator Pad and the Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish - fantastic combo, and German Pads are the best hands pads for most tasks by miles; really chunky and fit your hand well, so firm rubbing no problem at all. :)

Lol, it's always raining in Glasgow! And yes, the owner is getting the garage carpeted with a deep pile Berber soon. :lol

Blackfire metal polishes for the exhaust tips mate :)

Which of the 3? Aren't they extremely expensive and more bent on show metal? I guess you used 0000 Steel Wool?

Wow...what a fantastic job you guys have done to the Audi RS6 and the write up on the detailing process is very informative. Managed to pick up a few useful tips from your posting, thanks :p
