I was wondering what effect you might have with layering klasse and bf. I was thinking something like 1x kaio multiple coats of bf(maybe 3 to 5) then top it off with 2x ksg. Just wondering how this would effect shine and durability.

You've got to understand why i'm asking---late at night can't sleep and weird thoughts going through my mind.

Anyways, what's everybody's thought?

Pick one system and go with it. If you go BF, 1X polish and 3X protectant (can't do more than 3 in one "session" of BF or Zaino), but can later come back and add more. The BF cures instantly so you can layer right when your done buffing out the first coat. Klasse route, 1X AIO, 1X SG, if you try to layer SG imidiately, it will gum up because it needs 12-24 hours to cure before you can layer. I found that when I waited 12 hours when itwas about 75 out, the second layer whent on much better and looked better than when you layer imidiately. Hope this helps.

Young Brad makes perfect sense. Select 1 system and then stick with it initially. Experimenting is fine but I would tend to just stick with one system. One slight difference in opinion though, several of the old timers here have layered Klasse SG 3 times in one sitting. No problems. No gumming up, no drying or buffing out issues either. And yes, there was an improvement in shine after each coat. Laters

Why not go the other route, prep with AIO if you already have it and then top with BF 6 coats. That way it won't have that characteristic darkening that some people don't like.

I broke out the BF this weekend. Will be posting some info under product reviews soon. With regards to this thread I put SG on one of my mirrors that has 2xBF polish on it. The SG went on great, best experience with it so far.

Unfortunately I had been using the spray a little qd on a mf appl. method to apply SG in the past. It is difficult to say if the lack of qd made the difference or the use of it on BF was the difference.

I have chosen not to use the technique of allowing SG to cure for 12+ hours. Depending on the temp. drys in under 30 minutes, buff off, do something else for a while then apply more SG. No problems for me doing it this way.

The SG on BF polish looks very nice. More under prod. review, soon.

Slightly off the subject but the idea of using the side mirrors as a point of experimentation is excellent!!! :bounce

Small area and controls ( 2 mirrors ).

I used AIO, then applied two coats of BF on my black Jetta. It seemed to work fine. I wonder if there is a compatibility issue with the chemestry of the two prodects. I also have P21s Paint Cleanser. Would this be a better way to prepare the paint without having BF polish?

Yes, you should have pretty good results with a mild paint cleansing product like P21S' or Pinnacle's PCL. I know DavidB used PPCL as a prep for Blackfire and liked the results.

I'm also considering skipping the polish phase and using PPCL as a prep, but make sure you are very happy with the surface condition before applying sealant - you will be very hesitant to strip it off and start prepping again.

Use the BF polish, it doesnt just poilish but "lays down" some glassy polymers, I found it to really enhance the look of the car.

Your new surbuf pads will come in handy if that is any indications of my feeling on Audi's CC Da Rules!

That is what I thought.

I will be using the Optimum Hyper Compound on a Surbuf and I will let you all know how it turns out.

Thanks Flash!!

Rock hard IMO.

You should be able to remove light marring easily enough, but and deeper scratches will definitely need an aggressive method. I did an S4 a couple months ago where I ended up having to use M105 and a PFW on the rotary and even that required several passes to remove some defects.

I was able to get decent correction with Power Finish and an orange LC on the PCXP though.

I ended up 3 stepping this car and actually sent these pics to the owner prior to doing so as it was only scheduled for a 1-step.

With Surbuf pads and Ultimate compound you should be able to get some good correction though. ;)
