Audi Paint just wont get corrected

Alright here's the deal. It's a black 98 Audi A6. Horrible marring, etched in waterspots and RIDS. I've never had a problem correcting newer audi paint. i've done a couple but that about it (2006 black RS4, and a silver Black A8) With the A8 I was able to get 80% correction (customer wasn't paying for perfect). Well this 98 I want to get perfect. It's my new car because my other car got stolen, but anyway here's the deal. I've taken LC purple wool pad and SIP with flex rotary to it doing two different passes. It looked really good as I was doing it, broke down the polish and everything. Than I used PO106FF on a Cyan LC pad with flex rotary, that got rid of the wool pad buffing trails. After that I used PO85RD on Black LC pad with Flex rotary. Than I used the Menzerna Finishing glaze on it with a Red LC CCS pad and PC 7424XP. Than I did an IPA wipe down. I topped it with 1 coat of BFWD and pulled it into the sun and it did help, but it still has some etched in water spots and some RIDS left over. Does this mean I'll have to wetsand this thing down. (I only did the hood today, and yes I did wash and clay bar before I polished) Just need some input from other professionals.

I'd try a more aggressive polish first. Could be the etching and RIDS are deep enough even wetsanding won't fix the issues though.

Just curious, why would you buy a black car with obvious paint issues?

well I saw the RIDS at the dealership, but the water etching just happened this week. And plus the car is more of a family car and I got it for only $5000 out the door. It just needs brakes and a major detail.

Lol thanks man, but I don't wanna drive that far. I'll try 105 or I'll do Menzerna Powergloss compound. I'll do that next week cuz this weekend I just got calls for a couple details. It's like when I'm really slow during the week, people call me and want their stuff done and I only get the weekend to do it.. oh well, it's money..

ADetailedFinish- The M105 *will* do the job, but it might take numerous tries (my Audi experience is almost exclusively with cars of that vintage, the clear *is* pretty hard).

Consider that I've removed serious fingernail scratches from behind Audi door handles *by hand* ;) Just takes a whole lotta time...and IMO M105 is a very good choice (I like it better than 1Z Pasta Intensiv and I'd only reach for rocks-in-a-bottle stuff if you really need to).

OTOH, I left some etching on my wife's A8 because she and I would rather it have thick clear, especially on the horizontal surfaces, so give the whole "perfection" thing some thought.

BTW, be careful about the 106FF doing some long-term filling. I've had some first-hand experience with that happening that was simply *astounding*.
