It is being sold as some sort of $795 paint protectant which they say is much better than perma plate. They say it is used on "Air force 1". The rep said you have to wear masks and **** when you put it as it is "quite a process" I'm not planning on buying a honda but i was tired and wanted a free cup of coffee so i stopped by and looked around on my way home one day.

xzylene is a paint thinner, probably not what your talking about, but throw a gallon in your gas tank and you can bump your octane by a few points.

Xylene (no Z) is a chemical solvent that refers to derivatives of benzene.

Xzylene sounds like one of those 5 year paint protection schemes. :nomore: :geez

I think you are reffering to something called xzilon. It is a paint sealant. Why someone would pay any more than $50 to have their car sealed is beyond me. I sure wish I could talk my customers into paying that type of money for a paint sealant.

I've applied this stuff a couple times at the dealership and it's not forgiving to work with. If it dries, it's a nightmare to remove. It's a wipe on, wipe off product. It smells like paint thinner. Its claim of being a 3-5 year sealant is another example of the snake oil sales tactic that makes me pity the people who purchase it. For $875 you get the xyzlon sealant, the carpet and upholstery protectant, and the leather conditioner, sealant. But wait there's more. You also get an undercoating treatment to prevent rust. Wow! What a deal!

So has anyone done any real durability testing?

I've never seen a typical 5y.o. Honda that looked worth a crap.

I know this post is old but my Honda dealership just started using this crap. I HATE IT, it doesnt even seem like im doing anything because i have to apply it and remove it so fast before it dries or you have to throw your elbow out buffing it off. Main ingredient, solvent. Maybe thats why it protects against stuff? Theres nothing on the paint for it to stick to. One of the salesmen bought the stuff last month and i told him it was crap post purchase, :wall, needless to say they don't hold their scams for just innocent customers. A-Holes

Another funny point to add, when i was trained by the "salesman" for the product he had no clue what he was doing (his instructions for application were completely different than the ones on the back of the bottles) he put the spray paint on there like they do in the commercial, then he went to wipe it off and it wouldnt come off without a lot of force :chuckle:. After some serious buffing with a microfibre and scratches on a BRAND NEW CAR he told me i was using the wrong kind of towel, I said, well what softer towel would you like me to use, a baby diaper?? Thought it was pretty funny, another reason to fully inspect a new car even when you get it from the dealer.....
