Aston Rapide Concept Car Detail

I've done work for a client who has an in with Aston Martin and have since done work for them. I was lucky enough to detail the Aston Martin Rapide conept car. It is a one off car that was totally hand built and has been making the show rounds. This is the one you've seen in the magazines. For a car that doesn't see much road use, it was fairly well scratched. Astons usually have very soft, THIN paint (hence the blue tape in the pics), but this one seemed to have lots of it.

Clay Magic blue fine grade

3M Perfect it compound on a mini wool (where needed)

3M Foam Pad Polishing Glaze on black pad

Advance Sealer Color Brightener on a white foam

Collinite Fleetwax

Sorry for the lack of pics (notice I was able to unscrew and pull off the mirrors), but I did this car about 2 weeks before I found this forum.

The detail looks great.... When I was at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detriot the cars look like a wreck!! They has swirls and marring everywhere!!! Then there were CLOWNS walking around with dirty MF towels and spray bottles making it worse and pi$$ing me off! Glad to see they are getting actual detailers nowadays.

Great car but Collinite? Yeesh!

What's wrong with Collinite? It is a pretty good product line.

 Car! I bet it was a blast to detail something like that.

Lucky you -very nice job! Next to the Maserati Quattroporte, that is the most beautiful luxury sedan on the planet in my book!

Sweet car and nice work!

I hate going to car shows and seeing all the hacked up cars.

Was up at Road Atlanta yesterday and the had 6-8 Maserati's sitting in a open garage area. Most of them were ok, but one of them was trashed.

What is wrong with Collinite? Just because it isn't Zaino doesn't mean it's not a quality product. There was a Bentley Continental GT on here not too long ago with 845 and it came out great.

Wow, that car is very impressive. Must have been a pleasure to work on.

I did that Bentley GT. :) We have always known here that 90% of the results are from prep and the last 10% is product. Looks of waxes have always been subjected. Nothing wrong with Collinite! I use almost everything from collinite to Zymol Estate Glazes. For that type of car I personally would have used a Zymol Estate Glaze but remember what we are all about "To each its own!" :)

I wish I could have taken better pics, but the lighting was what it was. I am actually impressed with the salesmen and head of the Aston dealership here in LI. They are car guys and are the first dealers that actually seem to care about the cars and not just the sale.

As far as I know, the car was going back to Europe and returning to the show circuit. I used Collinite because I thought that a heavy wax might give the car a shot against all those guys with their dirty microfibers and final inspection (we hope?) at the shows.

Honestly that was my first thought of reason for the collinite usuage. Seems like this car is going to be passed around the block a few times! lol

Ditto that... I would have used my most durable as well. Good prep + Collinite will work great... as long as the car is in good shape and with a decent wax then mix that in with the billion lights at the car shows then itll have a real hard time NOT looking good.

By the way... AM makes some of the most beautifull rides.. that car is HOT!

Heh, for that car I probably would have reached for some Souveran or Pink Wax, as it doesn't seem that durability would be a concern, and IMO(and probably everyone elses, too) Souveran and Pink Wax look better than Collinite. But the tone of SilverLexus's post made it seem like he thought Collinite was an inferior product.
