As you can probably tell...

That other picture is just a shot I took while working enforcement on the Interstate a few days ago. The car that I had stopped was a 2005 Chev Malibu.

I'd assume he got a ticket? Opposite direction moving radar?
You have a GPS unit in your car? I don't think I've seen any other department with a separate unit like that.

It's got to be nice to have a take home car. I know several officers that have shift cars and I don't know how they can spend 8 hours in that car. Talk about nasty.

Blueline is a LEO. I think you will find all you need to know about car care
here at the City. Even seasoned detailers learn here. That's what we are
here for.

Welcome to DC! I'm also in law enforcement. I work for the Richmond Co. Sheriff's Office here in Augusta, Georgia.
To answer your question about polishing/waxing the patrol car, I've used just about everything from OTC. I'm still looking for something that will last longer also. After visiting the great state of Alabama I don't know which one is more of a PITA the hot sun or them love bugs!
Let us know how the PC works for you.

Hey Jared. Hope you had a great time at the beach. Call me on my cell phone and we can set something up. By the way, our mechanic fixed my transmission, so I am back in my routine car. Are you still off this week?

Yup. He got a ticket alright. We do have GPS in our cars. We have to note the GPS coordinates on all of our accident reports now. The radar we use is the Stalker brand. It is a dual unit (front & rear) DSR (direction sensing radar). The malibu was clocked going the opposite direction westbound, while I was traveling eastbound.
I have started another thread in the off topic forum "gotcha" that shows the same shot and an additional shot of one at 101mph that I got going the same direction I was.

I sent you an Email. Hopefully we can get together sometime this weekend.

hp -- good luck finding something that lasts on the patrol car. I have three former patrol cars -- two 1995 Caprices (thus the 9C1 handle -- that is the police car option) and a 2001 Camaro (the police option on that one is B4C). All of them came from North Carolina -- the Caprices came from the Bureau of Alcohol Law Enforcement (Revenuers) and the Camaro is a former highway patrol car. I have a friend there who runs one of the state garages, and he gives me tips on the good units as they come out of service.

Mine sit out 24/7, but they don't get near the use you give your unit. I prefer UPP from Four Star. I'm going to try Colinite as a topper to see if I can get it to last longer, but I haven't got around to it yet. The UPP lasts three to four months up here in the north, but that is not the same as your conditions.

Be sure you have something that will break the windows of that Vic if you get rear-ended. The failure mode in those circumstances is NOT real good. We can PM if you need/want more details on that situation.

Welcome to DC, and stay safe.
