Argh !!! Large Starbuck coffee + light carpet

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
I detailed this 2004 Nissan Maxima tody. The owner dropped a large Starbuck's coffee in the front passenger-side carpet/mat about 1 month ago. There was some mold-like substances growing out of the coffee, and the floor mat was laid back on top of the stain !!!

I vacuumed and extracted with heated water only first. (Mytee HP-60)

Then pre-treated with Rightlook's BT-17 Carpet stain removal solution.

Extracted again.

Scrubbed with Red-Heat by Magichem.

Extracted Again.

Results were about 75%.

What I find interesting is that this was in the car for a month, must of liked the smell of a coffee house :rolling

Can you tell me about this products?

Rightlook's BT-17 Carpet

Red-Heat by Magichem.

Eww!! Looks like a good transformation! Why would they wait a month and then put the mat over the mold..ick

That is insane. I don't understand why someone would let that get so bad. Even if I wasn't into detailing, once it starts to grow MOLD I would at least use some resolve or something on it.

Is the owner elderly or something where they couldn't physically take care of it?

Wow. You did a nice job, all things considered.

I just cleaned a coffee stain that was in a car I just brought and used a enzyme based cleaner that took almost all the stains out on a lighter gray carpet.............I got mine at a janitorial supply place this afternoon, never knew that stuff could work so well........I hope top find out what these other products are that I asked about to

Beemerboy,

Magichem's Red Heat is very similar to EF Hi-Intensity Cleaner, but much cheaper when purchased in large quanities. The carpet cleaner from Rightlook was acquired when I bought out another detailers business last year. It works pretty well on most stains, but obviously not completely up to this task.

I called my local janitorial supply company this afternoon and ordered a gallon of enzyme cleaner from them (great minds must think alike). I have a heavy duty SUV job next week, that had a full container of Enfamil Formula spill into the carpeting under the front seats and console. Seats will be completely removed, and a real heavy extraction will be in order. The owner cannot drive the car because of the odor !!!

:doh Good god, Enfamil smells terrible even when it hasn't gone bad and baked in a hot car for weeks. I don't envy you one bit. Only thing I ever had that smelled even close to that bad was a F-150 that came in where the guy had a 6 pack of bottled Bud that fell off his seat and broke spilling 4 of them into the rug. I never thought fermented beer could smell so awful!!! I actually had to lift the carpet up and hit it from both sides! Don’t be afraid to do that if you need to on your job. Good luck!

There are tons of cleaning supplies at janitorial supply places. The way that I found out was I did a company SUV for one. I walked in to the store front and was WOW'D by the selection of brushes and cleaning stuff. I buy a degeraser by the gallon its cheap that is hands down the best that I have used for clean well, engines, and the tuff stuff.....I also mix with water for other appplications. I would suggest that you look at some other products that they carry.

Good luck wth the van I hate those :wall :wall :wall

What is the dillution ratio of the enzyme you guys are getting from Janitorial supply? I just started using Automagics. It shocked me a little on the price and I questioned whether the 32 to 1 dillution would work. $39 a gallon but it has been working pretty good during testing. My parents Explorer has numerous spills on the carpets and I just sprayed the stuff on there and then wiped it off with a Mf little while later. Was pretty darn impressed. I've been testing it quite a bit this week on customer cars. Now I just need a pressurized sprayer as a trigger gets tiresome quickly even with well developed trigger muscles like mine :)

Great work Dean :bigups
I don't envy you cleaning the SUV with the formula, Autospa is right that stuff is nasty smelling when its fresh.

Good Luck

I would also recommend Folex like Sean. I have had some good luck with the product and OTC at Home Depot is very convenient. :)
