Are Viking Foam Applicators good??

I went to my local auto supply stores looking for the Meg. foam applicators I've seen recommended here, but couldn't find any.

I did, however, find "Viking Applicator Pads". Anyone have any experience with these. I'd like to use them to apply Zaino(Z5).

The Viking foam pad works good for me. You will really like the built-in handhold. I still use several Meguiar's yellow applicators. Can't hardly beat the price. $1.67 for two at Wal*Mart.

I picked up some of those Viking app pads at my local Autozone on sale for like $1.69. I love em. I use them mostly for putting on Klasse SG.
 
IMO, they are ergonomic, albeit expensive applicators. I stopped using mine after the foam between the handle and the pad— started to come apart. The Viking pad was also slightly more aggressive than the pillow-soft Meguiar pad.



I personally prefer the Eagle One Xpress-it applicator:

I get adequate control from it, yet my hands stay clean.
 
I love those pads. I have used them for applying Zaino with very good results. The handle makes thier use so much easier.
 
Very good for applying a very thin layer of sealant. They are washable and stand up pretty well. The ergonomics are very good. The only problem I found, and this applys to all foam pads, when using with Zaino polish mixed with ZFX that even after a very good washing the foam hardened. Prior to using ZFX cleaning and softness maintanance was a non-issue. With that only exception (ZFX usage) I highly recommend Viking applicators for sealant applications.:xyxthumbs
 
The darker colored round disc on the bottom of those Viking HD apps are a bit stiff, but they work great when applying waxes and sealants and last a long time. However, they are a bit aggressive when applying abrasive products. When using them to apply Fi-II and PPCL, I get a lot of hazing/microswirls all over my paint. But for some reason, they work perfectly when applying Klasse AIO. After making a really messy, swirly patch on the hood of my black car using FI-II & PPCL with these Viking apps, AIO came to the rescue and did a fantastic job of clearing up the haze.

Interesting. Definitely points out the different results that occur with the same product being applied with different applicators.

Same with the same applicator giving different results with different products.

Once read something like "There is no answer, seek it lovingly".

It would seem to apply to detailing, "There is no best product, seek it expensively".
