Are there biased posts....

Sort of like the difference in behind your back and to your face, if that makes any sense.

You're not restricted from registering. That's your personal choice. You have the ability to read whatever is there. You choose not to.

It makes no difference to me one way or the other. I just don't think it's fair to act like there is a difference of behavior between the sites.

I don't think you could blaim Scott for not registering at Detailers Club. Registering there for him would be like walking into a lion cage wearing a suit made out of meat.

I have seen this very frequently in the past 60 days. I feel there is ONE major retailer who is the primary offender here. I think we all know who it is, and I don’t like it.

I feel these people failed their business ethics class in college. They also cheapen their business names and reputation to those who know better. Its very used car salesman like, just plain sleazy. I understand pumping or promoting your business, but there are people who PAY to sponsor forums here. Someone at Autopia should spend more time policing this issue and arbitrating claims. I too own my own business, I don’t need to speak badly about my competitors or solicit outside my competitors clients offices to earn their business. These tactics are okay if you are looking for one little sale, in the long term people will know what you are up to and view you as underhanded.

I'd hate to see this site turn into a total waste of time, there is so much good experience here being shared for free. Money and the reviews and messages it purchases will sour those that are here to share and help.

Makes you wonder why so many people always seem to have something to say about so many different brands of products. You would certainly think that they would have found what works for them by now.

Yes I have but unlike others, I won't stick to it. The search for better ones will never end.

How can you say what you are using is the best if you haven't tried them all

It's an expensive exercise for me but so far it has been extremely rewarding.

Not the Autogeek forum, the one started by a bunch of people who got banned from Autopia. They didn't like me here, I am sure it is still the same. They'd probably ban me immediately anyway.

I have viewed several forums not just car detailing and it is amazing what personalities some people take on when they are behind a keyboard where no one can see them.

So are you saying that people are pimpin' a product that they know is garbage?

It's silly to do that. Your so bloody good and to me your posts are extremely valuable and any forum you would join would be better because of it.

Nope, I'm saying the posts are purchased.

The products may be great and typically are. The retailer selling the product is purchasing the post either directly or indirectly.

:secret

There's a difference between telling the truth about products and simply pushing a product. I've tried several products and one stands out among all them. Many products are pumped full of fillers-is it wrong to tell someone they are paying big bucks for cheap silicone oil-or mass produced cheapo products? Is it wrong to tell someone that the expensive boutique wax uses the same ingredients and formula as a much cheaper wax?

It is if you don't KNOW it.

I not sure about pimping products that are garbage but what I can say is there are a lot of people pimping entire lines of product to be superior to everything else. We all know that different product lines have products that are at the top their game but other products in the same line are well below average but some people promote all of them as being the best of the best. Some companies are best known for their sealants and other for the polish and even others for their QD but I don’t know on any one company that entire line is above average.

Product reviews are just opinion of one person. You should read them and form your own opinion. Because a wax works for a guy in Atlanta doesnt mean its going to work the same way for another guy in San Francisco.

I think the biased posting has to do with vendors of products, not the content of the reviews.

I dont think, YET, that certain vendors are trying to push bad products. We'll see in the coming months as thier business expenses grow, profit margins shrink, and the competition closes in with lower overhead expenses.

It is wrong if you don't know that as a 100% verifiable fact.

Do you know as a 100% verifyable fact that Werkstatt is a different formulation than Klasse and Carlack? Do you know as a 100% verifyable fact that manufacturers aren't relabelling products within their own lines. Some who do so are honest about it-such as Collinite.

It's called brand licensing.

My wife does this for a living, and it effects about 70% of the products you use and/or see DAILY!

Do you really think a company like Harley Davidson has people making lighters and chess sets in a factory somewhere? Just here in the detailing world, the "licensed" products are sold side-by-side with the originating product and claim to be different. Its more insulting to the consumer this way.

I 100% agree. Often times the same or practically same product being sold under a boutique name costs 3x as much. Take for instance foam pads. Some manufacturers are honest and say that the foams used in their product is the same as in another brand. Yes, differences exist in construction and size and some manufacturers also have some special foams they offer that some competitors don't. But to pretend that every product discussed here is a unique, proprietary formula is insane.
