Are sea sponges the best for washing your car’s paint?

MiVor- Eh, I guess I can't really argue that the BHBs are cost-effective! The smaller ones might be worth it for those nooks and crannies (where I need 'em).

And I'm with you on the rinseless/grout sponge combo not working out! Sure is popular with others though.

Texchappy- Ah, maybe you could try it, you know...be a trailblazer...AKA Guinea pig ;) For people who like sponges, I *do* think the Sea Sponge is worth trying. Just be careful about that "retained sand" issue.
 
Never owed/tried a sea sponge. BUT, willing to buy one.

1. any recommendations for a top-notch sea-sponge?
2. does it work best on a Bucket-Hose Wash/RW/WW?

jmsc- Heh heh, OK....but don't take my posts about them to be an official endorsement, I wouldn't quite put them in the Accumulator-approved category ;) But if somebody's gonna use a sponge anyhow, and is willing to put some effort/time into the "sand issue", then, well....OK, sure, give it a try.
 
I thoroughly cleaned mine when it first arrived and never experienced an issue. Use it strictly for the lower rocker panels and front bumper. For the "paint" I'm now using the Lake Country Wash Wedge. Been in play for about 2 mos now and I love it.
 
I use real lambs wool wash mitts and pads. They are the best IMHO on highly polished paint.

I use the micro fiber dread lock type mitts in the lower rocker areas. Not experienced with sea sponges because I am happy there I am.

the sponge does not really change color much like I have seen with other wash media. ( you know how people complain about ONR staining wash media )

If the sponge does turns colors from picking up dirt during a pass when washing, it comes back to normal color quickly after hitting the rinse bucket due to the fact it releases trapped dirt with ease.

Having wiped the bottom of my wash bucket with a white paper towel it comes out spotless every time .

Have been using the sea wool sponges for years, shortly after ONR came on the scene, have not found a reason to change yet .

clean up is a breeze I just run the sponge under water when you are done and wring it out quick ( could rinse out in rinse bucket but I like to run under the sink, that is my method )
 
flatstick- Thanks for elaborating! That's interesting about how the Sea Sponge comes clean so easily and doesn't do the "change color" thing.
