Has anyone seen any effect of high gas prices on your detailing business? Have any customers held back on spending money detailing because of gas?

Do you guys think high gas prices could have a negative effect on the detailing industry?

Most of my jobs are local but i do some 25-30 miles out.

Maybe a good question is, How far are you mobile guys willing to drive?

Ditto.

I have actually eliminated and/or have restrictions (must have more than one vehicle being done, etc.) on certain services in certain areas because of rising gas prices.

I wont be picking up any more "away from home" details due to the gas prices. My clients who are 35-40 miles out are now costing me $15-20 in gas.....

I have one guy in Irvine. He has always paid extra for me to make the 80+ mile round trip and still doesn't have a problem with it. Tips at a 30% rate too!:)

It started off as a one time thing for my wife's co-worker. He liked my work enough that he had me back to take care of his wife's car. Back again for his mom's car. That all started a little more than a year ago. I go now about once every 3-4 months and am well taken care of.;)

The only effect that I have seen with high gas prices on my mobile detailing business is that it has made it much easier to raise my prices. Personally, I really do not think any of my customers have held back spending money on detailing because of gas.

Actually, I think high gas prices will have a positive effect on the detailing industry. That's because it is the people with money who get their vehicles detailed in the first place. They can certainly afford the higher prices of both gas and having their car detailed.
