aquawax...any downfalls ?

I notice that a lot of people compare this product to Zaino.



I'm curious about the PBA bonding agent. Is this product sorta like Duragloss' version of ZFX or would you consider it more of something along the line of Klasse AIO, something to just get the surface cleaned and prepped?



I'll be ordering at least a gallon of the AW and FC&S, along with a bottle of the 105 and possibly PBA if you guys recommend it. Compared to Gold Class wash and NXT wash, how would you rate Duragloss' car wash soap? A gallon of that stuff costs significantly more than the GC and NXT.
 
Since using DG products I have used the PBA on every car. It acts like a primer for the wax. Kinda like using primer before you paint. It gives the paint something to grab onto. I am simplifying this....but you get the idea.
 
I have a whole 33 oz bottle of AIO that so far I've only used to clean my bathroom. I haven't had the chance to try it on the car yet. Would this work as well as the PBA? According to the little info they provide, they say this helps the polish (sealant) bond chemically, so I take it that this just isn't a surface prep product?

The PBA is actually more similar in function to Zaino Z1, not ZFX. It is not a strong cleaner like AIO at all, but functions more as a light prep agent to clean old wax/grime residue from the paint and give the new sealant coating something more to bond to. It should increase the durability of the sealant applied over it, although to be honest I have been using 105 without the PBA with no issues. Another way to think about it is a 2-part epoxy system, where the sum of two products bonding together is stronger than either one by itself.



As to the DG wash, I love it too! Cleans really really well, provides great lubricity, and slickness, enhances the shine, and smells like cherries to boot! It is my favorite soap, bar none, so of course I would take it over Meguiar's soaps. Plus it works well with the other DG products on the paint (AW or the sealants).

Since part of the reason why Duragloss line is so attractive to many people is because of their "bang for the buck" factor, do you think the DG wash soap is worth the price premium over something like Gold Class, where you can pick up a gallon for half the cost of the DG wash?
 
To me, absolutely! Others may disagree in terms of its value for the dollar.



Bottom line, it's just a wash, so use what works for you and is within the range of your price and performance expectations. I do believe the DG cleans much better than the Meg's offerings and provides more of that DG shine. I guess it's just worth that premium to me.

thanks for your honesty. I'll try a small bottle of that first and see if I consider it to be worth the cost of getting a whole gallon. I love the fact that their shipping is only $5. Compared to other online e-tailer, that is super low shipping. Even if I just buy $40 worth of products, I won't feel like I'm being ripped off. Heck, I would be paying almost as much after factoring LA County taxes if I were to buy it at an actual store. Sometimes when I'm ordering from some of the reputable places many of us shop at for care care products, I feel like I have to carefully plan my purchase otherwise any savings I get will just have gone to shipping costs.
 
AW is a product that I don't have any complaints on. I read all the raves on it and a few weeks ago I picked up a bottle at Carquest on sale $6.99. I used that bottle and had to go out and get another. $8.99 off sale OUCH. I went to another store hoping each store may vary. $5.99 on the shelf, rang up $8.99 OUCH. I couldn't do another car without it so picked up that bottle. Today that bottle ran out SOB SOB SOB. I am in luck though as I picked up a gallon online from AG which will be delivered tomorrow. Definately a product I love using. Carquest and Western Auto are the only places locally I have seen it. I haven't checked prices at the Western Auto yet though.
 
I found a downfall in using Aqua Wax, those seagulls love to bomb my car right after I waxed it. Overall, it was a great product to use and it even protect my winter rims.
 
So...peer pressure is a b**ch I suppose. I went out last night and picked up some Aquawax...went home and immediatly did a quick QEW wash on the Porsche and gave the AW a shot. I have to agree that it's a great product and since I'm nearly out of my last gallon of OCW I may be purchasing a gallon of AW in the near future.



HOWEVER...i do have one gripe. maybe it's my bottle but the sprayer on the AW sucks. It spits out a thick squirt onto the paint rather than a nice mist as I would prefer with a QD / spray type of bottle. Am I the only one with this issue?



I'm gonna see if I can find a better sprayer to put on the bottle and then I'll a very satisfied customer.

Yeah, the sprayer is actually very nice on the AW. It should have two settings, one for a concentrated stream squirt and one for a spray mist. I nearly always use the spray mist for better coverage and spreadability.

Hear Hear! My two black cars become targets for every flying object within 10 miles...It must be because they can see them from 4 miles in the air...



Luckily, a quick spritz with water and a wipe with a paper towel gets the spots off, but I don't like having a car that looks like Mel Brook in High Anxiety... :LOLOL

I used to use water and paper towels to remove bird bombs - but after becoming an autopian, I became too paranoid about causing micro-marring that way.



Now I only use a good QD and a high quality MF towel to remove bird bombs.....
