aquawax...any downfalls ?

duragloss need a kick in the *** then...the could sell the stuff by the truck load!!
strange just one store carries it, if wal mart and target had it , im sure average joe would love it...no mess from over spray etc and great results

Not sure I fully agree here.
Yes they could sell it by the truckload and yes the avergage joe would love it. Do we really want the average Joe learning to live without us? What happens to a products when a company saturates the market with it? The demand becomes greater so production must rise. Rising production can and has led to cutting corners. Product saturation also leads to companies not being able to hold the same standard of customer service.
Say they soak the market with DG products. Someone that actually has an intelligent question or suggestion about the products will play hell trying to get to someone in the company that can help or make a difference. As it is now it's pretty easy to talk to the owners of the company. Think that will stay the same if companies like Walmart start whoring up the market?
One last reason that I just thought of. When you go to a CarQuest store and buy DG products, how long have those been sitting on the shelf? I order all my DG stuff directly from DG so I get only the newest product.

The last thing you want is Duragloss on Wal Mart's shelves. WalMart is constantly twisting wrists to get the cost down. This results in companies pumping products full of cheap ingredients and siliocne oils to cut costs. Also, Duragloss is a relatively small company compare to Megs which is 200+million a year company. It's better for a small company to target a small segment of the market than to get steamrolled by Megs and WalMart.

Being a relatively small company, DG may or may not have the capacity to sell to mass merchants. Even so, as stated above, those mass merchants can kill quality at the expense of price. I think DG is probably happy with thier small, limited distribution system. Keeps quality and customer service leves at higher standards. When was the last time you could call or email Meguiar's and talk to the owner of the company about the products?
Ordering from their website is nearly as cheap anyway if it's not locally available, with relatively cheap flat-rate shipping.
There was some famous hairdresser years ago that made boutique hair products. He went mass marketing and sold these at K-mart, the demand got so great they cut corners watered them down, even this hairdresser guy told people not to buy them anymore. I'm afraid this would happen to DG products, lets keep them OTC but not "to" OTC. BTW I just washed my truck then dried using AW and it still amazes me after I'm done even though I've done this now for almost a year!

Yeah, bigger isn't always better.
I used to be able to purchase a few of the products at this funky little auto parts store that no longer exists. OTOH, they've got a flat rate shipping deal that's pretty hot. A few months ago I ordered a couple of bottles of shampoo and the AW 'cause everyone had been raving about it. My total, IIRC, was ~$22.
Get a couple of bottles of shampoo if you haven't tried it...it's one of the better products of its kind and is great if you don't have time to dry the car...

I have one complaint. Don't burn me to bad please IMHO..... AW is so shiny and reflective and I mean that, it mutes the metallic in my red paint. That sucker will shine and blind you. But the depth is muted some so the metallic does not come through. It is a great product well worth the money.

I called DG yesterday asking about the difference between 105 and 111. The nice southern gentleman I spoke to said many of the same things (newer polymer, longer lasting, etc.). When I asked him if either 105 or 111 contained any cleaners (i.e., very mild abrasive), he said 105 did, and 111 did not. I asked him about layering, he said probably not worth it with 105, but you should be able to layer 111.AL-53 said:

Yeah, the 101 and 111 are their older sealants. 101 is like AIO, a cleaner/sealant, with pretty good cleaning ability, although as is typical, at the expense of durability. 111 is a pure sealant.
Now, I knew they had stated 105 contained very light cleaners, but in my tests, I assume it is really very very light, as it wouldn't clean areas of my paint that a true cleaner wax/sealant would, nor do my applicators turn a blackish or brownish color (from possible dirt or grime embedded), as is generally the case with a cleaner product. I'm not sure it would be strong enough to remove previous layers of sealant, in my opinion. At any rate, if they say the 105 has cleaners, then they are nowhere near the level of those found in 101.

Good to know. Out of curiosity, do you tend to layer up 105, or just go with one coat then maintain with AquaWax? I've only used 111/AW so far, and I'm very happy with the results (reminds me a great deal of Zaino from several versions back).

Yes, I tend to layer 105 (I guess to what extent possible) with 2 thin coats. I have never gone more than 2 so far and have experienced great durability and protection. If I had more time, I might do more, but it's not possible for me. I do maintain with AW after nearly every wash. It's just so easy and fun that I can't resist!
And yes, I know what you mean, it reminds me a great deal of the big Z as well.

Thanks for the info on 105.
I know what you mean about AW . . . I tend to use it after every wash, too (unless I'm testing something else on the car). I'm a sucker for anything that will slicken up the finish, provided it's easy to use.
