Aquapel

heard nothing but good results from it. members on here talk about how it really last 6 months and is easy on, easy off, unlike rainX. i bought a 4 pack from costco for $16

Lately I have had mixed results with this product.

I put another application on my car windshield(wiper marring free), no bonded contamination, perfectly clean, final wipe with IPA just to be sure.

I applied it just like I did 6 months previous, following directions.(got 5 solid months of performance before it dropped off previous application).

It was terrible. This performance was mediocre at best and it dropped to just about flat in 2 weeks. Of the batch I bought, I noticed on customer cars it was about 50% as bad, so for the application I applied, though they didn't mention, I refunded half of the cost back for the ones with the bad product.

The very first time I applied it to the car I have now was June of 2008 It lasted me through December before it started to drop off. That application was amazing..

were you using the old aquapel? or the new ppg packaged one? might be a difference in the newer one?

I applied Aquapel to all of my pickup trucks windows the first week of January. They are all still beading strong and the droplets will still fly off the windshield as long as the window was reasonably clean.

where do you buy this stuff? isnt it a local OTC?

I buy mine at Pep Boys.

Aquapel is an *amazing* product, and I don't think it gets enough play around here. I may start offering it as an option on details as an upgrade from SIG w/rain repellent.

  • Pepboi sells it, but the people in the store don't seem to be aware of it. I see it in the car washing supply area.

  • COSTCO is said to sell a 4-pk for $16.

  • I've purchased many times on fleaBay.

  • You may compel your local PPG glass shop to sell you a dose or two.

i think the important stage of the application is to be sure to not dry. If it dries, it is apparently not so easy to remove the haze.

After assembling my daughter's swing set (It aid it should take an hour, took me the weekend) I have decided to read the directions!!

Agreed. It's critical to follow the written procedure.

"When allowing to dry and removing Aquapel, some brute force may be required!"

The 4-pack from Costco does not include the sticker.
