Applying Wet Diamond

I was recently at Costco and stumbled across some MF towels. They are made by Microfiber Unlimited and are 80% polyester and 20% polyamide. They are packaged 8 to a box of assorted colors and are priced $9.99. They measure 14X16. I have used them for Qd, applying and removing cleaner, for removal of wax and to clean windows. I haven't noticed any linting or scratching. They are not as plush as some of the others but will suffice for some jobs.

I picked up one from Krogers, the scotch brite brand, and the ones from Costco are deffinitely better. They are not as plush as the ones from topoftheline.com or 3m's from autozone.

I think it is a great price so you may want to check them out.

I noticed that TACSCAR now has 70/30 blend MF towels for only $2.99 each!! I have not tried them yet, but for that price I will be getting some with my next order from Tim. :up

Dang SRL thanks for the MAJOR heads-up on that! I like dealing with Tim too he's a straight shooter.

Funny how my MF collection is growing a little here a little there. I have 6 light blue towels from Tacscar, 6 Viper green from my local autoparts store along with a Viper gold colored glass cloth and 12 3M yellows from the local paint supply store. The MFs from Tacscar are definitely at the top of the pile.

I think next will be a couple of bath towel sized MFs that I can use for drying. I'm currently using some premium white Fieldcrest 100% cotton terry cloth towels for that task.

I am not sure of the quality, but if Tim carries them the quality must be O.K. Can't beat that price!! :up

I am not impressed with their quality. They lint somewhat and I only use them for wiping up of the interior and initial wipe up of dirty windows. But you can't beat the price for sure, grab them and try them out!

BTW another possible Costco deal is Zymol Auto Wash. My local Costco has a gallon for $6.79! It smells great but doesn't seem to be quite as lubricative as Meguiar's shampoo. I mixed the 2 for the heck of it and it worked fine.

Olivher,

Actually my wife picked them up for me and she said they were in the cleaning product section. She also picked up a california water blade for me but I'm not so sure I will use it.

Wow, now that's a deal. Beats paying $3.50-10 per MF towel (what I call the exclusive markup for auto enthusiasts). I didn't find it at my local Costco though. Different Costcos carry different items (along with most of the same items)...may be a regional thing.

Bill, remind me to bring my MF towels with me next time when we meet. I have the YoSteve and Megiuar's MF. You can try them and see which one you like better and how they compare to the ones you have.

Later,

Kenneth

Tim has mentioned before that he would really like to carry a few different grades of microfiber towels. I guess he's followed through on his wishes. As for the deal of 8 towels for $10, that does seem pretty cheap. If nothing else, they can be used for the interior, wheels, and windows.

In the past I have always applied Wet Diamond one panel at a time, buffing off immediately afterwards. Yesterday, however, I decided to "follow the directions" and allow the protectant to thoroughly haze before removing. Given that this is to be my winter wax on Luthien, I figured that maybe durability might be enhanced if I allowed WD to dry before buffing it off. I don't know if durability will in fact be enhanced, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it ... :)

I have to say that removal was by far easier, not that removal is difficult using the WOWO method but there is a noticeable difference. The dried residue came off easily and completely. This will be my removal method of choice for future applications of BWD.

I don't think it does anything if you use it WOWO. You have to give it at least 10 minutes to haze up so it can properly bond to the paintwork.

Emile is correct. Either way will yeild simmialr results. I do agree however, that waiting until it hazes, makes it easier to remove. I usually like to wait 30-45 min. before removing. I don't know why, but that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.:cornut:

I like to apply say, a whole side of a vehicle, then come back to the beginning and take it off. Its always hazed by then for me.

This is a really user-friendly product to use and pretty hard to beat in terms of gloss and slickness.

my method is to apply to the whole car right after i;ve finished drying it off. then let it haze as i put all my gear away then come back and wipe it off... works wonders for me.

I just applied the 1st coat over 12 hours ago doing one panel at a time. I think tomorrow I will apply the 2nd layer of BFWD to the whole car and then remove. Love that stuff!
