Applying Wax with Machine?

I recently purchased 50/50 Wax from Chemical Guys, being the professional that I am I usually put everything on with my Porter Cable buffer. Since it was a new wax to me I asked them if I could use a machine to put the wax on, they answered; I could but that they didn't recommend that? What the hell is that supposed to mean and why wouldn't they recommend it?

I've used my porter cable orbital with many hard paste waxes such as Collonite. Collonite actually recommends the use of a machine when putting on their rock hard paste waxes.

How could using a machine give less than stellar results?

I have a PC also and use it to apply any type of wax. I've never run into any problems. I set it to 3-4 max using a LC white pad.
I've used it with BFHM right through to Collinite and FK1000p which works great!

DA polisher will work great with CG 50/50 paste wax. There is no problem using the machine.
I like a red pad myself.

I am willing to bet if you call and speak with a different person CG would say its fine, go for it.
 
I almost always machine apply. Just do it. You will be fine! Don't know why they would have told you otherwise...
 
That's a head scratcher. Wax is pretty much wax, unless it is some of that $1000 stuff, then you have your butler apply it with a doily.
 
Maybe he thought you meant a fax machine or a photo copy machine? I bet if you told him it was a CGs machine - he would say it's fine. Just try it on a panel and see how it goes. There are only two possible outcomes:

1. It will go good.

2. It will go bad.

Then, just proceed in the direction your results take you.

The only thing I can think of is that you use a lot less product with the machine method which equates to them selling less product.. I've heard this before but then again Chemical guys always says use the least amount of product possible, but the guy in the videos really puts it on thick.

Regulars here know that I've long advocated waxing via machine. That said, some stuff could conceivably go wrong:

-some waxes might flash too fast, especially if you use a sorta-high speed (as I often do, like with the Cyclos)
-maybe related to the above, some waxes might be streaky or otherwise tough to do uniformly by machine as it's just faster/more aggressive than a manual application
-some waxes might do a solvent-action thing to underlying [whatever] if applied aggressively and by machine is [etc. etc.]
-a few waxes need the heat of the user's hand to soften up/apply properly
 
Maybe it was his/her personal preference? For example I know Dodo Juice will try their best to talk you into applying it with your bare hands (no applicator - which I've done before with great results). But applying it by machine is no problem at all. I usually apply by machine and any areas that are too small for my pad I just take the same pad off the machine and use it by hand.
