Applying Wax to a PC Pad

How do you apply PASTE wax to a PC pad, I've been using a liquid wax and recently ordered a PAste wax to try. Any suggestions?

i would recommend to apply paste wax by hand. i've tried it with a pc and it just doesn't work correctly.

The tips I've heard are to use the spatula as suggested above (some people warm the wax up by microwaving it a little first), or the other tip was to apply it to a hand applicator pad, and then use that to "wax" the PC pad. I think Meguiar's advocates this method, but I like the way the other one sounds better. HTH

I always just wiped the pad over the wax or even flipped the buffer on and off for a second while in contact with the wax. Actually I was wondering about this question myself since I have the small can of Blitz and I won't be able to reach using this method once I get down towards the bottom of the can...with the big cans it will always reach.



As for not applying paste by machine, I disagree. I find that it is much MUCH easier to get a very thin, even coat using the PC to apply. I find that it's much easier to overwax when working by hand. With the PC even if you get a little too much wax on you can usually spread it out. Just use a soft pad (I use Griot's red pads) and set the PC to 1.

Endus- I use the PC to apply paste waxes all the time (but NOT P21s or Souveran). I agree, it works great. I encounter the same problem as you when using Collinite on Griot's red pads. I apply it with a piece of plastic (often a plastic razor blade), figuring that's a little more gentle on the pad than a metal spatula.



BTW, I use a much higher speed, more like 3-4.5, but to each their own. I also apply paste wax with the Cyclo, this works well too.

Thanks for the tip about the razor blade. Hmm...maybe I'll try a faster speed...I guess the only effect would be to make it even easier to spread...generate more heat and all that.

I got the plastic razor blades from AutoInt.



The faster speed might also give more complete coverage. Sorta like "working it in" better (or at least more strokes in the same amount of time).
