applying UPGP by UDM????

I have not tried it because it is easy to do by hand

and I think it would waste product/money

but if you want to try use a finishing pad and speed 2-3

i already tried it by hand but i cannot apply it without applying too much product

I spray once on the pad and starting over but the first touch is too much and after that i have almost to squeeze the pad on the paint to get some more.if i spray once again i have the same problem.A lot of product on the first touch and almost nothing after 3 passes...

What am i doing wrong??

If you're going to give it a try, I'd suggest using a 4 or 5" pad with a microfiber bonnet at a low to medium speed. I've thought about doing this myself for pretty much the same reason . . . although I can get a nice thin coat down by hand on most of the car, there are almost always a few high spots (usually where I changed direction with the applicator) that need to be wiped down.

IMO, if you use a MF bonnet and a relatively small pad, you're pretty much mimicking hand application, just with more even/consistent motion and pressure. I think it will work fine, but you'll have to judge for yourself if it's worth the extra hassle of using the buffer.

Try dabbing the applicator in a few spots in the area you plan to cover, then go over the entire area to spread. Work quickly, though; those dabs of UPGP will start to dry pretty fast. I try to just get the sealant evenly distributed over the area as fast as possible, then go back with smooth, slower wipes to even everything out. Pay particular attention to where you change direction with the applicator; that seems to be where I get spots that are little too heavy and don't quite dry all the way.

I have exactly the same problem. I either put on too much, or find areas that are completely bare. So I err on the too much side just to make sure I get it on the entire surface. These areas don't seem to "self level" very well, and have to be knocked down with a QD job after the UPGP dries thoroughly. No matter how much I practice, I still have this same problem.

And the biggest problem is that i have to wait 12 hours to clean the car. i think is not an "apply and go " product for me but an "apply and wait till tomorrow to wash your car again before applying the next coat" product :LOLOL:LOLOL

Did you UPGP not come with a MF applicator? I think using a DA to apply is pointless. As mentioned before, its really easy with the MF applicator. Take me 5-10 minutes to do the Civic AND CR-V. Spray and wipe, spray and wipe :D

+1 on pointless.

The MF sponge works great. One spray per panel is good enough, maybe two for the hood. You can see it coating under certain lighting, but I can see why you'd think you would need more sprays. It's barely noticeable, but don't worry, it's coating. If it streaks too much even up to the next day, you can always give it a final buff or go over it with some QD.

i don't have a fully closed garage and the last time that i used QD instead of washing the car (almost no dust on it) i got swirls again.I have to wash it 3 days in a raw just to apply the 3 coats of UPGP :grrr. Iwill try again with the MF applicator( Ultima) and i hope that i will do it right :D.

I am waiting also to receive my Danase wet look kit so i could apply 2 or 3 coats above UPGP and i am thinking of finishing with 1 or 2 coats of mothers top coat reflections instead of UPGP again. any recommendations about that?

Not really. Assuming you are going to wash once a week anyway, just apply a coat after you wash - only takes 10-15 minutes. Sure, it make take a week or two before you get the 3rd coat on, bus so what...
