Applying tire shine

Spray some dressing onto the tire, 2-3 full sprays into the applicator and work the product into the finish. On well maintained tires, I only have to go around once or twice to each tire to get it to dry to a perfect gloss. On dry rubber on customers cars I have been using Poorboys Trim Restore, because I find that I just waste product when using water based dressings on dry rubber. 90% of the time though I can get away with a water based dressing on customers cars.

i spray the tire foam (use it 90% of the time) onto the tire and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, and then use a tire swipe and work/spread it around evenly. also, i'll back up the car a foot or so to get the missed part of the tire as well...

I pour the contents into a small bowl. I then use a paint brush to apply the product to the tire.

I use the round foam applicators with a slit in the middle (for holding). I bought a dozen from Danase.

Griots used to have nice soft foam blue ones but now they are sort of coarse. They used to be my favorites.

Ive never seen so many different and complicated ways to apply a tire dressing. I just use little applicators I buy at advance auto parts for $1. Ive bought a bunch of them so I have one for all the different products that I have. ASD for tires and fender wells, ASD for plastic (the ones I use on the tires get black stuff all over them that gets on the plastic), Megs hot tire shine, and megs Endurance.

They work better than anything Ive ever tried.

I have been using Meguiar's Hyper dressing on the tires of the vehicles I detail. I made wheel masks out of cardboard. I have them from 14 to 18 inches in diameter, covered in duct tape to make them somewhat durable with two slits to hold them by. I put the mask over the wheel and spray away.. no mess on the wheels!

I use Eagle One Tire Swipes and spray the product on the swipe. every week.

Same here... my favorite way to apply tire dressing so far. The swipes allow for a clean yet uniform finish.

I'm gellin' like Magellan. Right now i have wolfgang tire gel. The bottle has lasted a surprisingly long time. I use foam applicators, apply liberally then wipe off the excess with a old terry cloth. It doesn't sling and it applies evenly.

I use and old wheel brush (8" handle green bristles). For best results the brush should be well worn. If using a new one cut of the flogged tips otherwise they tend to leave lint. One brush should last you until you loose it. I take my dressing in a 32oz bottle and one or two sprays close up at the base of the tire were it connect pavement. Then just spray the brush a few times up close and go around the tires a couple of times. After a few cars the brush will be well seasoned and takes very little dressing to do a tire. I use probably 4 sprays per tire with a 1.3ml trigger. The works out to about 180 cars per gallon. I don't like a high gloss so I usually go over the tire with a dry mf towel.

Pros - The brush is cheap and lasts for years even with commercial use. Bristles get into all of the texturing on sidwalls. Oversized truck tires are a breeze. Since you spray the brush up close there is no overspray on the vehicle. High yield per gallon. Takes only a few seconds for an average tire, some like an H2 tire might take 10-15 seconds.

Cons - On occasion I'll get a little on the rim but just use a mf towel to wipe off

I use Eagle One Tire Swipes.

+1

I apply a smidge of Poorboy's BnB across the swipe and apply. My tires are exactly the right width and I can apply it on a single tire in one single motion all the way around. I drive forward until the bottom part of the tires are on top and do another round-the-clock swipe on each tire. No sling and with this two layered application, I get a nice satin gloss.

I've started using them only three months ago and the first swipe still looks new (they come 2 in a pack) after weekly to twice weekly washes on my DD. Come to think of it my Poorboy's also still nearly full after using them each time I wash the car and I got it around the same time as the swipes. :2thumbs:

BlueLibby04, how do you apply your Meguiars Endurance Gel? As I mentioned earlier, I seem to have trouble getting an even application with an applicator.
