applying S100 with PC

should i use the PC to apply the S100? Or should i just apply it by hand?



If i could use it with the PC, how do i get the wax on the pad? ive heard about people putting their meguairs #26 in the microwave.. would putting S100 in the microwave help at all? thanks
 
The answer to your question goes for all paste waxes :



prefered to apply by hand :

waxing is no chore (shouldn't be) but fun: no efford involved



a buffer's real purpose is for polishes to break down the abrasives , that's a chore!!!



If I'm not mistaken S100 is a wipe-on wipe-off wax(never used it...)

by hand that it seems a shame to use a machine. Unlike many waxes it should not dry before being removed. Another consideration is the much larger quantity used so the cost to apply could be a lot more since you have to fill the applicator before applying.



ON the other hand it's soft enough that it should go on the pad easily, and may work in better.



Personally I'm in the polish by machine, wax by hand school.

Wait, not so fast...True, S100/P21S is probably the easiest paste wax Ive ever seen to apply and remove by hand.



But, Ive also been using mY PC and a finishing pad to apply paste waxes, to excellent effect...I personally prefer to apply pastes by PC because I find I can get a very uniform distribution, rubbed well into the surface. To go quicker, I have an 8" Meguiars finishing pad I use on the 6" PC backing pad...I would never use an 8" pad for polishing because when I polish, Im usually attacking a specific area where there is some scratching...But for an overall application of wax, the 8" pad works very well, and is quicker.



So, the PC applies it uniformly, rubs it in good, and goes quickly. I speed of from 2 to 4 works best....I just use a putty knife, dragged across the paste surface to grab some, and butter the pad with it. I can control the quantity easily this way, and will use no more than if I were loading a hand foam applicator. Some guys use a hand foam applicator, dragged across the paste surface, to gather the paste, and use this to apply it to the machine foam applicator.



So, in summary, I think both hand, and PC can be effectively used to apply and remove the paste...I dont think one has any inherant advantages over the other..its strictly a personal choice.
 
I use Zaino by PC, but not S100 because it has no drying time. S100 should be wiped off right after application, so if you want, you can use the PC on half a panel and then buff off. By hand you literally have the applicator in one hand and your microfiber towel in the other.
