Applying/Removing Poorboys PWC Blue and EX/EX-P

Hi All,

I plan to detail a new VW GTI this weekend. Since it is brand new, it does not have any major defects in the paint. I do see some very light swirls in certain lighting conditions, though.

My plan is as follows and I need some suggestions about applying and removing these products. I have a PC.

WASH

CLAY

PWC Blue

1-What LC pad----I am thinking a white polishing pad

2-Will this hide or take out the lite swirls, or should I use SSR1 first, and if I use SSR1, will this white pad be good enough?

3-How long to leave PWC on, and how well does it come off with a MF or Terry bonnet, or do you use MF by hand?

EX-P

1-What pad-I'm thinking a white polishing pad, but I could go to a black finishing>??

2-Any tips on applying?--

3-How long do you leave on and do you do the entire car at one time?

4-Removal----do you use a PC, and if so, is a MF or Terry bonnet the best? How easy is it to remove?

5-Any other tips?

Next steps:

1-I read somewhere in doing a search here that itr might be good to apply a couple layers of EX-P, then go to a single of EX to add some carnauba, then finally top with Natty's Bl. What do you think?

2-Should I just skip the EX-P and go right to EX? Is EX easy on/off and the same apply/remove method as EX-P?

Good luck with the detail...here's my take.

Polishing.

I'd think the white pad would be fine. I'm not sure PWC willl do much for the swirls. You may need at least SSR1, if not 2. I always remove by hand, so I can't offer any input on the bonnet.

Sealant.

I'd use the finishing pad. I believe Steve recommends no more than speed 2...you're not doing any work here, just laying the product on the finish.

EX, like all Poorboys' stuff, goes on and comes off very easily. I generally distinguish EX vs EX-P by the type of finish I'm working on. If there's a lot of pearl or metallic, I'll use EX-P. Otherwise, and especially on dark colors, I'll use EX. NB is an awesome topper - it's become my go-to carnuba. Again, I base it on finish, but really only with respect to metallics. I've found that carnuba actually softens the look and I prefer the pop. Otherwise, on pearls or 'standard' finishes, and again expecially on reds and dark colors, NB is awesome.

Thanks----the car is bright red, so I guess I'll use EX. I'll think about the SSR1. It's brand new and I can barely distinguish any swirls. They are more like some very fine straight lines, maybe from the dealer when they detailed the car. I'm OK with even hiding them for now if the PWC does that.
