Applying Poorboys Polish w/Carnuba w/PC

Hello,



I have been lurking and reading for a long time. I was a previous Zaino user and have also used the new Blackfire.



I will be Claying and Polishing my car this weekend.



The paint is in good shape. I will be using Poorboys Polish with Carnuba. I will be applying it with the PC. This will be the first time using the PC. Is it better to use the CMA white or black pad?How much PwC should I use. Should it be polished till it becomes a powder or should it be applied, let dry the buffed off?



Any other tips will be appreciated.

Read up on David's E-book to fresh your memory. I sometimes read his articles I printed out every now and then to keep myself updated and current. His Machine buffing techniques can also be used with the PC but tweaked a little.



I am not familiar with Poorboy's product, but based on the site says it cleans and leaves behind a protective coating.



With a foam polishing pad. I recommend going at a speed of 3.5-4 and getting a nice even coat. Work it into the paint for about a minute to make sure its worked in. This is how long I "work" Klasse AIO in with light-medium pressure just make sure the pad is flowing smoothly and you should be fine.



As if to dry or not, it should say on the bottle.



Its not a polish like 3M's Perfect It III Machine glaze or one of Meguiar's Pro line abrasives (#1,2, DACP) so don't work it into the paint for 3-5 minutes until it flings some dust/powder all onto the car.

Thanks, these are exactly the types of tips I was looking for. I will use the with CMA polishing pad and polish the area for about a minute using overlapping strokes. First in an up and down pattern then in a side to side pattern.



I will also go back and read the eBook to see if I forgot anything.



Does any one else know if it is better to let it dry before buffing off?

Poorboy's Polish w/ Carnauba is meant to be used more like a polish. I've used it before with great sucess.



If you have heavy swirling, then go with the CMA Yellow Pad. If not, then use the white pad. The pad mades a pretty big difference. This stuff will take off minor swirls and leaves behind a pretty good layer of protection.



I work it into the paint like a polish. Up and down, side to side, up and down. I let it haze on the paint and then carefully buff it off. You should be amazed at how easily it buffs off. This stuff can also be used in full sun on a dark vehicle with no problems. I've done it.



I'd get some of the Poorboy's EX for long lasting protection after you finish with this product.
 
I plan to use it in the sun since I do not have a garage. That is one of the reasons I looked into the Poorboys line. The EX is in the mail and should be here next week. Since I had this bottle of Polish with Carnuba I figured I would apply it this weekend then apply EX next weekend. Im hopeing to get 2 or 3 coats on next week. I might then top it with S100 just for kicks.



When you let it haze do you just do one panel at a time and let it haze then wipe off or do the whole car then remove? Or maybe better would be to do 2 panels then remove the first. Then anther panel then remove the second. What do you think?
 
I use Poorboy’s Polish w/Carnauba almost every week. Apply it directly to your white polishing pad and then work it in one panel at a time. Keep buffing until it dries to a light powder. You can move on to a next panel or two before going back to the first one and wiping it off. When you top with EX, you can apply it to the whole car (this gives it time to set up) before wiping off the residue.



I think you will be very happy with the EX finish and will not really need to top it with S100. (Don’t get me wrong, I love S100 but I have found that the EX finish really does not need any further topping.)
