the application instructions for these products is to use a swirling motion. it seems like everything else says to go back and forth to prevent swirls. who has experience? maybe bretfraz?



what is best?

why does it say to use swirls?

Straight motions, i.e. back/forth, up/down, are almost always best. Some manufacturers suggest circular motions to ensure complete coverage of the product. I believe this is the case for most waxes and sealants. Abrasives however, may benefit from a circular motion becuase of the heat generated and the quicker action to break down into a finer polish. Front to rear application on horizontal surfaces (hood, roof, etc)



Up and down application on vertical surfaces.



BF should not be a problem either way. I've applied by hand and by PC and have got terrific results every time. Virtually fool proof. But front-rear/up-down limits the potential for adding swirls in case a bit of crud is in your applicator.

thanks guys. i totally appreciate your advice. i washed last night, clayed today, and it looks great. i have swirl marks, water spots, and 4 scrapes on the clearcoat still after claying today. i decided to completely clean the paint before doing any abrasive action at all. i am still going forward with BF without swirl (and water spot) removal. i am interested in how BF does alone for a real evaluation. i have only been using front and back on top and up and down on sides like i have read. i will continue with BF application. i took before pics and will post my result pics if you are interested. i haven't posted pics before. i think i can figure it out. anyway, back to work. this is great! :D
 
ok. i just applied and polished half of the roof. it really shines! it also has all of the water spots and half of the swirls. the swirls might be completely concealed with the sealant. i am not sure. but the water spots weren't affected at all. advice? remember, i am evaluating the BF for now, for everyone's benefit. but, i would like perfect paint eventually.
