Applying an AIO after washing over old wax?

I see people top AIOs with wax, but can an AIO like Klasse go over an old/washed wax or sealant?

Looking to change my regimen on a DD without reclaying, or having the option in the future.

dfoxengr- Just be sure to do the AIOing aggressive enough to truly clean off whatever's on there already. Don't do a *VERY* mild application and end up with AIO mixed with partially cleaned off LSP, it could be a bit of a mess (just redo the AIO to fix).

Great responses. Thank you.

II plan on doing AIO by PC, not by hand. So I'd hope that would get the work done more efficiently.

That was my main question I couldn't put into words though, that the AIO should clean off the wax and replace it.

Yes it will.

Klasse AIO, Zaino AIO and many other simliar product will not have an issue going over an LSP. They will generally remove the previous products. Utilize a prep solvent prior to be sure if you are concerned.

Yes a sealant (with no cleaners) will go on top of KAIO just fine, and they make their own for this purpose in the Klasse Sealant Glaze. I've used sealants and waxes over KAIO for many years and never had a problem.

A sealant won't go over KAIO though right? It needs fresh paint?

I use KAIO as a base for all sorts of sealants, not just KSG.

And some "sealants" (e.g., FK1000P) can surprise you, working fine over all sorts of stuff. But then I've had sealants *not* work over top of should-be-OK stuff too :nixweiss

In my experience, I use an AIO more as a cleaning step to get chemical contamination off the paint than a protection step. I don't consider my AIO application as protecting the paint for more than a week.

Same here. I wish they'd quit advertising stuff like KAIO as providing some months-long protection.

In my testing, KAIO lasted longer than Poxy.:noidea:

Absolutely agree, KAIO lasts more than 3 months on a daily for me, and when topped with SG or any other wax on occasion, has lasted just a tad over a year, on a daily.

Straying from KAIO (which I just got in the mail) what about Meg's cleaner wax, this seems like a pretty decent AIO off the bat for me and I've just put it on a car that stays under a car cover. It was a one-step paint and really brought back the color richness from oxidation. How long should I expect that to last? I was thinking of topping it with another wax the next wash.

If you like it, who cares what others think? ;) That said, eh...I liked their older Mirror Glaze Pro Series Cleaner Waxes OK, but never really liked the consumer line stuff (what's it called? A12 maybe  ). Keep it off trim! That's one reason why I'd rather use KAIO.

But like I said, it's all about what *you* think of it.

It never lasted very long for me, and IMO a lot of products look much better (there I go again with my who-cares opinions! ). Sure, top it with something for better durability and a different look. The "cleaner wax topped with a straight wax" combo works fine.
