Applying a paint sealant by hand..?..

I have always applied wax and sealants using a circular motion. The other day i happened to read the instructions on the sealant we are using and saw that it states to apply the sealant following the contours of the vehicle.. Just wondering if there is a difference in the two methods?

I have read theories about minimizing visible swirls but I do it because it is easier. I use a Z-W method (across, down and back,across, etc) and then do the same vertically. It seems to give an even coat with less effort than circular motions.

hmm..interesting, i will give that method a try. See how it works for us.

I'm going to give that pattern a try next time. It seems you will get more complete coverage with that pattern, especially since you want it as thin as possible.

Just as long as you get even coverage and work clean it really doesn't matter how you apply it.
