Applicator Cleaning?!

How do you guys clean your dirty foam and mf applicators? Should I just throw them in the wash with my other mfs or what? Thanks.

I handwash everything in warm water with whatever liquid detergent that my wife has on hand. I never have enough mf towels to use the washer.

For my foam applicators, I throw them in the wash with my cotton towels, or my LC pads if I used them. I don't have MF applicators, nor do I use MF to apply products. My MF's are for product removal only, so they don't get saturated with anything. They are washed seperate from everything else.

My applicator pads come out nice and clean, even if washed with my LC pads on the gentle cycle. I pre-soak them in Dawn (in the kitchen sink when the wife's not home), then I use liquid laundry detergent, with maybe a capful of Simple Green, in the machine. And if they look questionable after a wash, I start using them for wheel wells and for tire dressings. I found them at a dollar store for $.99 for a 4 pack. I stocked up!

Yes, Dawn the dishwashing soap. Squirt a little dawn on the pad, get some warm water running, and work the pad with your hands, adding more dawn as needed until it's clean. It's much easier to clean the pads if you do it right after you're done working on the car when the product hasn't dried too much. Regular foam hand applicators go in the wash.

Hand wash the really bad ones with a little Dawn, then toss them in a net laundry bag with the rest of the towels.

I hand wash with Dawn and I wash them very thoroughly this way with hot water. Rinse very completly and air dry. I do this with all applicators, or polishing pads or anything that gets a lot of product in/on it.

Sometimes the smell just doesn't come out no matter how well I wash them.
