Apple's iPad

im new to verizon so if thats true that stinks . ive had teen mobil they were terrible.i had sprint they were ok but if u were a day late on ur bill they cut u off. verizon is the best signal for my area.. owell

Every transaction I have had so far with Verizon Customer Service has been excellent. The VZW phone service (in my area) is superior by leaps and bounds.

cool thanks anyone if theres a gps on the android phone? other then vz navigator? that craps exspensive

I actually have an iPad and reply/ check out the site on it 90% of the time I also have an iPhone, iMac and iPod with that being said I got it because it's portable and can stream Netflix. I do not think it's a replacement for a laptop or desktop mostly because it's limited to what it can do ( can't burn cd, rip or download tracks not on iTunes) so if you're looking for something trendy, have the extra cash and don't mind having limited abilities then yeah go for it.

My wife wanted an Ipad for school but I saw no point in it. I bought her one anyways and I was surprised I really like that thing.

From a quick search, it looks like the iPad is only usable at Verizon's Mifi hotspots. $20 a month for 1GB.

The issue seems to be that Verizon runs on a different system than AT&T so the iPad is currently incompatible via non-WiFi access. (as mentioned by JP)

Why do I have an Ipad?

Personal use:

Travels much easier than my laptop.
Able to access my website for updating.
The normal surfing, email, posting etc..
During travel time I have over 100 movies available to me
I am able to access my home laptop from anywhere via virtual desktop

Business use:

I use it anywhere & everywhere I might be when working ......

as a credit card terminal
portfolio of past projects (great for helping a customer to understand & see results they can expect...)
looking up any info I may need from the web
GPS

It's a write off for my business so the argument I had when they first were introduced went out the window once I realized how much I would actually use it. ;)

When my wife wants to connect to the internet away from home and the wifi she just connects to my cell phone and then uses it's internet connection. I see no reason to pay extra for the 3G version and then pay AT&T to use the service.

Alot of the iPads found on Ebay are ones that people are winning on penny auction sites for next to nothing and selling them at near resale.

My wife is waiting for the Blackberry tablet. That said, her oldest daughter got an iPad for her 18th. She LOVES it. My wife got a basic Kindle instead, and she LOVES that. I'm happy with my desktop, my laptop, my el cheapo eMatic MP3 player, and my prepaid phone. Don't need flashy gadgets. I did however drop $130 for a video card (HD5770) so I can play GTA IV at 1920x1080 on high detail.

An iPad evidently has its own camera. The new ones have two cameras or something. But after playing with the stepdaughter's one, I think a smaller more handheld sized smartphone with half decent internet access, like a Blackberry or Palm, would be more ideal than the iPad for car auction stuff.

Woh, that's a pretty good idea to use it as a credit card terminal! :rockon But I'm still with most of you, I don't think I would buy one unless I had the extra money to get that over a new lappy. It just seems like an over sized iPhone to me.:D

When the iPad first came out, I started referring to my iPhone as an "iPad Nano"

That said, I do see some uses for an iPad. My iPhone has worked well as a credit card terminal as well, though.

The IPad is neither good nor bad in the grand scheme of computer devices.
It's a niche market tool, doing some things way better than some and way worse than others, depending on the job at hand.

It's a terrible desktop for desktop things, it's a terrible laptop for laptop things, but in it's niche, it's perfect.

Perfect for emails and surfing within wifi zones. Perfect for quick startups, perfect for long battery life, perfect for portability, perfect for size, and some of the apps are extremely productive. Lean too. No keyboard, no mouse, no confusion.

If I was a mobile kind of guy, I'd have one of these in my truck in a heartbeat. Only good in a wifi zone? Not so. Connect it with a usb cable and turn on tethering on your Iphone. You're connected.

Quite magical really. Maybe I should get one. Naaaaah. My Iphone already does that stuff. The wife loves hers though.

I'm not a gadget guy by any means... Blackberry and laptop for work, personal desktop, finally sprang for a Wii Fit for the family. No satellite radio. I don't even own an mp3 player.

But my daughter and wife have iPads and I have to say that the apps are phenominal!

There's an astronomy/sky map deal that works with GPS to identify stars, constellations, etc., overhead... really neat! The educational programs for my 1 1/2 yr old granddaughter... numbers, alphabet, colors, puzzles, shapes, concepts like over/under, taller/shorter, etc., are absolutely incredible. Netflix movies, books, surfing, projects... I really like the thing.

I agree. The Apps are phenomenal, and plenty, and many are FREE.

My grandchildren, ages 4 and 2, have hundreds of mostly free Apps, which they use for learning.

For $499, it was the best gift I ever gave them. It contains all the learning tools they need until kindergarten. Of course moderation is important too. Mom keeps the socially active too.

Add WiFi and Face Time, it replaces the small iPhone for face to face talk, google searches, gps, etc.
