How tough was the upgrade from Tiger?

I upgraded from Tiger and I literally popped in the install DVD clicked my mouse like three times and it did the rest. I did not have to save any files/folder when the install was complete everything was still in-tact.

Dailyshine: You are still able to hide the dock, I have mine always up so thats why it is shown in the pictures. I have also assigned spaces to specific applications so my iTunes always opens in a certain space so I don't have to do it every time. As shown in the movie when you view all of your spaces you can drag/drop windows from different spaces. Also, you can have up to 8 spaces if need be.

Well, as much as I love the new OS - I feel with the programs I am using with spaces (VM Fusion running Windows Server 2003/XP Pro/Vista Business) I need to upgrade my memory to get the most of of spaces when running multiple screens/apps. So I will be going to 2gb of RAM too see if their is any improvement in performance.

DennisH,

How tough was the upgrade from Tiger? Really don't want to do an erase/install if possible. Guess I'm the guinea pig for our office so figured I'd ask first before diving in.

MacBook Pro 2 Core Duo w/ 2G Ram

Thanks in advance...

I had zero problems but my Imac was only a few months old and I just joined the mac crowd from the PC world so there wasn't much to upgrade or go wrong. Just do a good backup and pop the CD in - remember it's not Windows and you shouldn't have the Windows upgrade nightmare.

Funny that you should mention "remember it's not Windows". Normally I would agree but there were a few articles today about Leopard that just made me laugh when I read that. Here is just one article but there were a bunch of them today.

Some Leopard upgraders see 'blue screen of death'

Apple Catches Microsoft Cooties, BSOD Attacks Leopard!

Oh Nos: Apple Catches Microsoft Cooties, BSOD Attacks Leopard!

I haven't gone into a Best Buy in a long time and to kill some time, decided to check it out tonight. It looks like they're carrying Apple computers now so if you want to try out Leopard, head over to your local BB and play around with it.

If you live near a Fry's Electronics, there is an instant $10 off of Leopard or a better deal is through Amazon.com for $109, with free shipping and no tax (for most of us).

I am not a Mac fan so I don't follow things closely. These are just 2 deals that I know of. I don't know if they're the best deals or not, but anything is better than paying full retail. The powerbook in our household has OS X Tiger and from the short time I got to play around with Leopard, for me I don't think it's worth the $130 asking price that Apple wants. But I am cheap and like I said, I'm not a Mac fan to begin with so I'm sure any Machead will want the latest and greatest.

As a long time Apple user and after many years of trouble free service I got the dreaded blue screen :wall on my iMac install. I did the Macbook first, took about an hour and zero problems :D . Then I do the iMac and blue screened:hairpull . Thanks to the above link I read it and now I have to try the reinstall. Apple is turning into Microsoft in my opinion. " enhancement " software installed is the problem? I think thats Apple speak for software that they don't manufacture. The only so called " enhancement " software I have is a iTunes plug in from octiv. If that is enough to not make an os not install I'm disappointed in Apple. I'm venting because like most Apple users I don't expect this kind of problem with them. I still love my Macs/Ipods but things @ Apple sure are changing. Intel chips, running windows, etc.
