Apple Leopard

Any Mac users out there planning on upgrading to Leopard next week? I was skeptical at first because the upgrades didn't seem like much but after watching the Upgrade Demo video today it seems pretty useful; especially the remote sharing of your computer through iChat. A new/easy way to give support to the people I have suggested getting a Mac too :)

I plan on watching the video tomorrow. My problem is the 199.00 tag. With 4 macs in the house I need the family pack. Please let me know if you get it and what you think. I will do the same.

Oh man, sorry to hear you have to do the family pack...But I'm jealous you have so many Macs! Let me know what you think after you watch the video. I plan on going next Friday to the Apple store to pick it up so I will let you know how I like it!

Well, my main machine is too slow. The laptop is short on RAM and HD space. I guess I'll have to wait on a new machine first.

That's the perfect excuse for a new one! The new machines will all come with Leopard once its released. 7 days left, but who's counting?

We have 3 macs too, but if I remember correctly, when Tiger was released, we only bought 1 copy and installed them successfully on 5 computers (sold 2 since then).

Ill be placing my order on monday morning!! I love the idea of the stacks and how the applications open and fan and dont pile up all over the dock and your downloads wont pile up all over the desktop. Theres alot of cool features i see that i will like for sure and for 129$ u cant go wrong!!

I have 4 Macs but probably will only install Leopard on one of them. The main Mac that I use is kind of long in the tooth–MDD 1.25GHz with 2GB RAM. I still run Panther on it ( I really didn't have a need to get Tiger) but I do have Tiger on my MacBook.

I hope to get a new Power Mac soon, which would have Leopard pre-installed, so there's really no need to get the Family Pack this time around. Heck, throw in a 30" HD display and I'll be like  :getdown

I'm usually there with the rest of the "Mac Faithful" in line for the latest OS, but I don't know if I'll do it this time around. Of course, that might change as the day gets closer knowing me.

I'm sure there's some passerby's who can't comprehend why we stand in line for what? A new OS? :grinno:

I watched the video. IMO it is the most significant upgrade to date on OSX. Lots of stuff that is actually very useful. Damn Apple, going to make me spend more money:wall . I would also like to get iWork, & upgrade iLife. Please keep me posted on your thoughts after you purchase it.

Apple Marketing, does anyone do it better. Order online and get it the day it is released with free shipping. :D

Well I have been playing in Leopard for a good hour now and I have to admit I was hesitant to go and make the purchase. Of course I wanted the new OS but was weary it may be more for looks than actual useful upgrades...but I got caught up in it and had to go to the store to check it out for myself. I feel that it does have upgrades which were worth the money. So far I am definitely liking the Spaces, how the dock can now fan out files/folders, love the CoverFlow feature. Everything seems so much easier to find and preview. I have not had a chance to try the share desktop feature through iChat yet but I hope to within the next week.

Upgrade took about 1 1/2 hours for me. Everything stayed in tact...Had to change my desktop though when I first logged back in because the new pictures which Apple includes are absolutely gorgeous!!

Oh! The new feature to create a widget from any part of a website is a lifesaver, I have the front page of Autopia as a widget just where it shows the number of new posts and private messages, the local weather outlook from the local news site, official time, and NFL scoreboard, my ebay. Very useful if you want to quick log in, pull up your dashboard and get an overview of everything you are interested in instead of logging into all the sites seperately.

Great! Let us know if you run into any "bleeding edge issues".

I'll probably pick up a copy within a week. It'd be great if I can pick up a new Power Mac as well. My old tower was making some rather interesting noises last night :nervous2:

Just got mine too! Well, got it for the wife, as my laptop is with Apple being repaired. Maybe they'll load Leopard when I get it back (doubt it):nixweiss My friend was showing us the new features of Leopard, and this has soooooo many cool features, I wouldn't know where to begin to play.

Here are a few screenshots I took today for you guys...Showing the Grid mode, CoverFlow, and Preview option within Finder

Yep got mine installed with out any problems (could say that with MS upgrades) and everything works. Seem to be a little snapper and I love the time machine and spaces. I have it installed on IMac 24" 2.8 with 500 gig - 4 Gigs of Memory. Got time machine running on a Maxtor 500 gig and WD 1 Terrabyte for extra storage. :bounce

DennisH,

How tough was the upgrade from Tiger? Really don't want to do an erase/install if possible. Guess I'm the guinea pig for our office so figured I'd ask first before diving in.

MacBook Pro 2 Core Duo w/ 2G Ram

Thanks in advance...

Lookin' good!

I like what they did with the Finder...similar to iTunes.

Are you still able to hide the Dock? Or is that just because you had the pointer down there? I read somewhere someone complaining about the new Dock, but I figured it was like the others were you can put it anywhere you want, or just hide it until needed.
