Apc??

The answer would depend on what's available OTC in your location. Around here, I'd say it would probably be Simply Green.

I would be very very careful using simple green. There have been many reports of it dulling the finish on paint and wheels.

I've used Zep All Purpose Cleaner in the past. It is purple and available at most Home Depots. I feel it is a little harsh though. Meguiars APC is very good if you can find it locally.

The only way simply green will dull paint is if you let it dry on the painted surface. Same can be said of most APCs. It isn't the fault of the product that some can't figure out how to use it properly. :nixweiss

If you are really wooried about it, just dilute it at 1:1 or up to 1:4.

someidiot- I'd take all the "recommended dilution ratios" with a grain of salt. I never seem to know what dilution will do what I want until I mess around with the product for a while.

I agree, with all the sales and free shipping offers available on line, it's just as easy to get a quality APC shipped as it is to go looking for it. I'm lucky enough to have a true detailing supply store in town, but if I didn't, I would order on-line.

.. I refuse to skimp on APCs. Not worth the trouble.

I've always been that way, using first P21s TAW and then EFHI, and now also OPC based on your (on the money :xyxthumbs ) recommendation. BUT...I'm going through the stuff *FAST*, doing the undercarriages of the drivers all the time (winter, etc.). It's getting sorta pricey even for me, and I hardly ever say that!

Just asking a question, but you are all saying that OPC is THAT much better than something simple like Meguiars APC or APC+? What makes it better? Cleaning ability? Smell? Application? Etc??

For an OTC product, it's tough to beat Meg's APC+. I've used it for years and keep a couple bottles mixed with different dilution ratios. One gallon lasts a long time.

I would never use Simple Green on any car of mine. I've experienced problems and have witnessed damage on others' cars :(

Oh God no! I'd check with Barry to see what super cheap / super caustic / high pegging alkaline degreaser he's been having great luck with. Save your good stuff and use it where it really counts.

Where are you getting Meg's OTC?
