not really, all you see are just the surface,

after the carpet was dry, i put it in water, and rubbed it

and you could see ton of dirt loosing from the carpet,

i have rubbed it for 5 times with dawn, the water is still dirty

anyone has method to clean the carpet "completely"?

the first rub in water was terrible. this carpet has been rubbed 5 times, the water is still dirty, i am letting it to sit in the water, see if the dirt will be loosened itself tomorrow.

APC+ is a great GP cleaner. :up

I love de-winterizing the cars and getting that feeling back that warmer weather can't be far away. :D

You may want to check out Cannon/Weathertech floor mats for use in the winter. They do a very good job of containing snow, salt, etc. Claim to hold up to a quart of water. Have used them in all my cars in upstate NY for many years.

kenji,

I personally would not use an APC on carpets and fabrics as I believe they are too generalized of a cleaner. I mean they may be great cleaners but they are not made for carpets or fabrics so I opt for cleaners made especially for them.

Also I would not use DAWN on the carpets either as it will leave too much soap residue which only attracts more dirt quicker.

First you should of used a air compressor to blow out as much of the sand, salt and grit that has imbedded itself in the carpet fibers, then brush out the carpet and then vacuum well.

Spray your carpet cleaner on and let it dwell for about 10 or 15 minutes and then agitate with a carpet brush. Don't soak your carpets with the cleaner but spray just enough to get the top surface damp to the touch as too much cleaner will be difficult to remove. Use an extractor (if you don't have one try renting one with a hand attachment for doing upholsterey) next to rinse and flush out the cleaner and dirt.

If an extractor is a no go then use a spray bottle filled with clean water and after scrubbing the carpet spray them down with clean water and then use a good quality wet/dry vac to remove as much dirt and water as possible.

Very good advice Anthony! That's about what I do for a full interior detail. I did 4 interiors this past Sunday (customer's getting ready for Passover) and my arms are still sore!:(

Isn't that what they want you to think? That you need a BUNCH of specialized products for your car? Shrug, just a thought. A cleaner is a cleaner.
