Anyone worked on a Firemist Red MB?

How come the firemist red is not listed as a paint option on the MB website? I am interested in what it looks like for I have a '02 S-class in Titanite red......Zainoed.

It's only available on the SL, SLK and CLK. So depending in the class of car you are specing, you may not see it.

I think that Mercedes adds a pearl to the clearcoat which is maybe why the paint reflects like this under certain conditions. If this is the case, you have to learn to love it. Your car sounds awesome. Please post a picture.

Aha! I didn't consider the clearcoat being anything other than...ummm....clear. Silly me!



In that case, I will have to learn to love it. I'll take a closer look and see if maybe this is what is causing the odd glow.



I have a digital camera and will post a pic after next week. I work in politics so, to say the least, work is a tad busy right now.

The silvery shimmer you speak of I believe is an effect of the Z2. I can definitely see it on my black car, and I personally really like it. If you've been blessed enough to get your Z down with no flaws underneath, I would think very hard about removing all your hard work to switch systems. If you don't like the type of shine you're seeing, I think switching back to Z5 will give you more of the look you want. I sometimes alternate between the two depending on my mood, but I usually come back to the Z2 :up.

The silvery I understand. But the lavendarish glow it takes on about an hour or so a day is what really gets to me. And I see it with both Z5 and Z2, more with Z2 though. But you are right about thinking long and hard about switching systems since the Zaino coats are layed down so nicely. That's why I am agonizing over this. A tad obsessive, huh?



I now have 8 coats on, switching back and forth like you. But I usually go back to Z5. I have to reorder though. I am out because my younger son and his friends used all my Z5 on their cars, wanting theirs to look like mine. Ain't never gonna happen though because they just aren't willing to do the prep work I learned here, nor even willing to Z6 in between coats. Go figure.
