Anyone who uses Flex L3403 VRG?

Looks like a wonderful machine but they don't sell them over here. :(

Flex is owned by Porter-Cable (now part of the Black & Decker/Dewalt/Porter-Cable/Delta family of companies). Most Flex tools sold here are the ones for the stone working industry.

The Porter-Cable 7428 rotary buffer is made for them by Flex. It's more like the Dewalt than your L3403.

The FLEX X1107 VE is the european version (220 volts) of the PORTER-CABLE 7424!

I use it and I'm very pleased.

Hej (I think it is so in Sweden) PORTA !

Can't sent you a link because I don't know how to do that.So I give you this manual

Go to www.flex-tools.de

Select PRODUKTE , select OBERFLÄCHENBEARBEITUNG METALL/HOLZ

There are about 13 tools, the FLEX X 1107 VE is the 12th one on the third page(Bestell-Nr.218.668).

In Germany it is sold as a sander with a quite hard velcro-backing-plate.So you better buy a smooth backing plate(I have done it so).

I have the FLEX1503 VRG as a rotarv too and use the same foam-pads ,the 160 mm diameter blue and white one on the X1107 VE.But you can't change the backing plates from the 1503VRG to the X 1107VE and should have a look in "ZUBEHÖR" on the flextools.de site. There they offer a 150mm soft velcro-backing plate for the X 1107 VE

You can find it by a click on "PRODUKTDETAILS", scroll down. It's Best.Nr.228.184

The PC 7424/FLEX 1107 VE is a very fine machine!

As I've seen , you can even select swedish language on the www.flex-tools.de site.

Hope, this helps!

Sehr geehrter herr Udo :)

I found it, will send this link to my friend who wants a Porter Cable. I have never tried a PC before, have a Cyclo and a Flex L3403 VRG so I have the machines I need.

How much do they cost in Germany?

I got the blue and white pads with the kit, but I think that they are very hard. I also bought the black super soft pad as well. So I wasn´t so impressed of the pads. Will give the wool pad a try.

What polishes do you use? I love Menzerna polishes and my friend is going to be a retailer for them :)

Thanks for the information!

The Flex X 1107 VE is similar but it's still different from the PC 7424.

The 1107 has more power, runs twice as fast and has a larger orbit radius than the 7424. It sounds like an excellent tool. I'd love to try one.

Hej porta!

Here are my answers

About 300€-a lot of money in comparison to the USA

I'm also not very impressed but it's hard to get some good pads in germany, it's nearly impossible. So "in the land of the blind is the one- eyed king"

I use EINSZETT (UPP/PP and MP...yellow/green and red can) but I've ordered the ZAINO PC-FUSION with high expectations...we'll see!Since march 2005 I'm a fundamental member of the ZAINO-church!

I just bought myself a new rotary, a Flex L3403 VRG and I must say it´s a superb machine! Very light only ~4lbs(1,9kg) and powerful(1300watt). Will never again use a heavy and bulky polisher. And I cant understand them who uses a Dewalt 849 polisher all day long. Thats a lot of weight.

But I have understand that Flex is not a big brand over in US.

Heya, Porta! :)

The 3403 is now available on this side of the pond. Are you still happy with it?

Works ace if you are not using larger pads. I saw that detailers domain had it for a very nice price. Go for it.!

Done! Yup, I don't ever use large pads. I have the complete lineup of Edge's double sided wool in the smaller size... think it's 5" or maybe 5.5"? I also always use the smaller LC foam pads when I do use foam. I just never got the hang of the bigger pads.

I didn't see the Detailer's Domain price (which is great, and includes fee shipping) until I'd already ordered it from Pak Shak. Pak Shak's price was about twenty bucks more, then another 23 bucks for shipping. Ah well, live and learn. :)

I purchased the Flex 3404 rotary about a month ago. After using it a few times, I absolutely love it. It's so light-weight. However, it's quite a bit louder than my Makita.

The gearbox in my current rotary is on it's last legs. It literally *screams* above about 800 rpms. I have to wear earplugs to use it. I hope the Flex isn't *that* loud.

That was one thing that really impressed me about the Makita 9227. You could still have a conversation while buffing at 1.5k rpms. Is the Flex so loud that you can't talk over it?

SuperBee,

It's hard to describe how loud it is, but it's definitely louder than the Makita. I'll probably start wearing small ear plugs when I use it. If I can get around to it, I'll try to do a video comparison of the two machines.
