Anyone used Diamondite Glass Repair kit?

I just purchased this kit with my Opti-Seal today from Autogeek.



Diamondite® Glass Repair System Kit polishes out scratches in auto glass windshields and windows. Diamondite Glass polish restore car glass.



I plan on using this kit with my PC on my drivers window which has very minor scratches that's only visible under garaged lighting. I'm just glad you can't see them in the sun, but they are annoying at night under some kind of light. I also looked at eastwood, Janvil after doing a search. Maybe the Diamondite kit fits my needs since it's very minor.



I have Z-12 (by hand/ PC) but no luck. I think Z-12 made more marring.. I'm just so glad it's NOT visible to the average person.



So, has anyone tried this kit.. if so any feedback would be appreciated.

Indeed, I'll follow up it. I'm starting to call around to see if a pro can buff it. That way I have a plan if this kit doesn't work. I don't know if I have enough faith on this product, but I'll give it a shot.



I read your thread yesterday and all I can is WOW! How long did it take again?
 
It didn't take long at all. I worked the polish into each window until it was broken down, which usually took about a minute or so for each window and that was all it took. Quite simple, really. I'm sure that kit shouldn't be too difficult to use, either. If you have a rotary I'd just go ahead and do it before hiring someone. Odds are, whoever you call isn't going to really know what to do and they're just going to wing it and end up making it worse or not do anything but still want to charge you. You already have the kit, so what else do you have to lose?

That true. I don't have a rotary, but I hope the PC will take care of it. I don't know what I was thinking using an abrasive (Z-12) to clean my windows. If this kit doesn't work, or no no pro can take it out, then I'll replace the window. It's ashame since I take care of my car so well that my window is the one that has the defects, but I guess it's better than a paint job... (knock-on-wood). Lesson learn, I'll just you stoners invisible spray cleaner.



I hope I get the kit this weekend, and I'll try to work on it and let you know. Thanks!

An auto glass specialist is supposed to call me today at work. The lady I spoke to yesterday said the tech can polish the scratches out with a machine. We'll see.
 
If your scratches are as light as you say, this kit might work. I think this product is great for cleaning glass(spots), but I'm kinda hard pressed to belive it will level down any scratch that are easlily visible like from worn wiper blade or deeper. Worth a try

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I can't catch my fingernail on the minor scratches, so I should feel confident about it. I just hope it won't make it worse. I'll keep everyone updated.
 
So.. I canceled my order with the Diamondite Scratch Repair Kit



Instead I bought a new replacement window (drivers side) and had it put on last Monday. So today I went to my local tint place to have it tinted. It took them about 20 min and it looked good. I cleaned the OUTSIDE of the window. No scratches, so I said what a sign of relief.



I go home and take a much needed nap. I get up around 8pm and wanted to go to taco bell. My car was parked in the garage, and when I went inside my car I notice a fine scratch that goes 8 inches across. I tried to clean it or I thought it was a spider web, but no! It's a freakin scratch on my NEW WINDOW!! I'm sure it was their blade that did this.



When I paid I was talking to the guy about me replacing the window. He did mentioned that they have a scratch repair kit for windows. I said "why do you have that? He said, "just in case we scratch a customers window".



How odd that I was talking about scratches on windows and to find out I have one that runs across my new window.



So, I'm going to make a phone call tomorrow and let them know about. Since this is a NEW window I'm not accepting anything less if the scratch can only "hide". Does anyone know what else know what I can say before I call them back. If they hide the scratch it will come back again, and that's not what I'm looking for. I hope they can get rid of it other than replacing the window, but if that's the only route then I'll get it replace but of course under their expenses. I'm so frustrated because it's time consuming and inconvenient. I'm so angry!!

To the OP: What made you decide to cancel the order and just buy a new window? Did you not have faith in the kit? Your skills? Or did you just want to avoid the hassle?
 
Glass is totally different that glass in the way that when a scratch is removed, it won't ever come back. The thing to really watch is if they damage the clarity and flatness of the glass. Look at the repair from every angle and from all different directions in sun light and/or shade. Good luck.

I didn't think the kit would work and I didn't have a problem replacing the glass. Even if I had the kit, I'm sure I woudn't make it where it would satisfy me to the fullest.

In other words the scratch can be repaired? The guy did mention that the tough part is blending it in. I'll give them a call (9:00am) today and see how they are going to handle this.



I'm really frustrated because everything was ok until I looked at my window lastnight. I'll be thinking about this while I'm at work.
 
':woot2: I got a Janvil glass restoration system and all I can say is it is pretty awesome!!!! The side and back windows on my Ford were so all spotted & etched with some type of chemical ans scratches. It was a danger at times at night because the view was kind of distorted. I was about to trade in the truck for a new model but I really did not want to do it. Not enough green these days. \r\n\r\nI ordered the janvil glass stuff and after the first application I could see a difference. When I was done for the day I was at 99.8% improvement!!!! \r\nThis weekend I’ll give it another couple of treatments to get more clarity. I am pretty exited that I found a product like Janvil \'s that I could use to fix my problem.'
