Anyone try Chem Guys new foam gun?

I have the gilmour and I see these pics of people using foam guns on power washer and the car is completely covered in foam and solid white.. i NEVER got those results with a hose and gilmour. I have tried different soaps. Anyone know how I can really get foam out of it??

I think power washer is the only way to go..

This looks like the same foamer but sold for animal cleaning. I used this image since it was big.

Well, I wouldn't *want* that kind of output, which is one reason why I use the Gilmour.

I bought one of the foam lance attachments for a pressure washer, but haven't felt sufficiently motivated to replace my dead Karcher...just don't need/want the "covered with white foam" effect.

I suspect the Gilmour (at least the way I use it) and the "foam blaster"/etc. foamers are just two completely different devices for two completely different purposes.

WHy?? is there a specific reason?? I thought more foam it lifts more dirt and more lubrication.. My gilmour puts out suds but no foam. On white cars or something I can BARELY see the suds but on my black g35 i see them pretty decently.

WHY? No one knows about the international man of mystery ( Accumulator ) :chuckle: Accumulator is a car washing nut. His advice and wisdom is highly respected upon us autopians. He is like the grandfather of washing. He's an old fart per say with lots of wisdom. When it comes to washing you need to listen to the man. His quest for the the perfect marring free wash is unpresidented! Here is a little taste of of his over anal compulsiveness! :rofl http://www.autopia.org/forum/guide-detailing/35232-accumulators-non-marring-wash-technique.html Enjoy, this is like the holy grail of his madness! :hifive:

The foams you see who looks like shaving creme is used with a Foam lance trough a power washer. You cant get that kind of foam with a Gilmour, even if using a high sudsing shampoo 1:10.

Barry Theal- Heh heh heh :chuckle:

Laying on a thick coat of foam *will* help get the foam to dwell on the paint and provide a degree of "presoak". But I don't really care much about that and the "thin, watery" output from my Gilmour provides enough of it for me.

I *really* use the foamgun's output for constant lubrication and flushing; the wash medium dislodges the dirt, which gets safely flooded away by the suds.

Hey, it's not like there's only one proper way to wash vehiciles, but if you're having to polish out significant marring on a regular basis then something's wrong. Id you do *NOT* have to polish every year or so, then whatever you're doing must be OK.

Hey Accumulator,

Are you still using Sheepskin Wool wash mitts as the most gentle wash media? Have you found anything better? (In mitts..not considering BHB)

I use the sheepskins because they're *not* quite as gentle as the BHBs, which can be too gentle to really get all the dirt off. MF mitts can be even more gentle than sheepskin too, but IMO it doesn't really matter at that level unless perhaps you're dealing with softer paints than I work with.

Note that some sheepskin mitts are softer than others too.

WHich MF mitt is that? I tried an MF mitt once but I felt and saw small debris sticking to the fibers and that made me really uncomfortable ya know.

I think the chenille MF mitts? hehe I think I might look into the Gilmour...I find it hard to justify getting a pressure washer just yet, but figure the gilmour should help me out some...btw what media/soap/shampoo do you guys use?

I forget where I got the ones I really like...they're blue, and very plush. I *think* they were from MicrofiberTech, but I got 'em years ago.

I've tried a few others and some, like the SM Arnold one, seem *really* bad about that retention of bebris. Actually, I'll agree that *all* MF mitts can do that to a greater extent than other wash media, and that's one reason why I always use the BHB to get the "big stuff" off first if that's likely to be a concern.

Media: BHBs for initial passes, then sheepskin or MF mitts

Shampoo: Griot's car wash mixed six ounces of shampoo added to enough water to make a gallon. Fill foamgun from that and use at least the gun's middle setting, often a stronger one.

@Accumulator

I've noticed the The Bone by Cobra is pretty sensitive about retaining debris. I have to very careful to pick big stuff out of the nap after each panel.

griots has carried the same one for a while ($30 and they refer to it as a foaming sprayer) and they have free shipping right now... code " vyw"

And by the time you clean that debris out you might've dragged it across the paint. Wonder if you'd like using the BHB first for the big stuff
