Anyone still use carnuba instead of sealents???

I was just wandering if anyone here still uses pure carnuba routines or do most now use sealents topped with carnuba's?

I have been a long time lover of pure carnuba's and tried to go the sealent route a few weeks ago. I used UPP and while it did shine it just didnt look like what I wanted. Have been thinking of trying wolfgang for that deep dark wet look.

I previously used:

Liquid Souveran

Many people still go the caranauba route. Really a personal preference thing, because the looks are certainly different. The durability is also different, and caranauba alone usually requires more frequent re-application--especially on a daily driver or vehicle that's not garaged.

The key, with either, is surface prep. My question, to you, would be whether you stripped your old caranauba wax before trying your sealant. If not, the sealant probably did not bond correctly, and you would not have seen the best results possible.

Those of us who use sealants with caranauba toppers are seeking the protection and durability of a polymer with the depth and gloss of a pure caranauba. Sorta the best of both worlds. But you can get excellent results with either/or. It's really just how you prefer to approach it.

Good luck and have fun!

I still love the old tried-and-true carnuba wax. Depth, and wet-look that sealants just cannot match. BUT .... when durability (length of protection) and reflectivity are required, then a sealant is a must. Not a fan of toppers but having good success with Wolfgang topped with Soveran.

I am a CARNUBA LOVER just carnuba nothing else.............

How do you like the 3m Show Car Paste? Got a can recently, but haven't tried it yet. I was under the impression that the 3m paste wax was part carnuba and part somekind of polymer or synthetic product.

I really like the 3m show car wax.It gives a deep wet look shine I have both the liquid and paste. Not as good as #16 but a extremely good lasting product.

I too prefer carnaubas, but want a sealant to cut down on waxing in 100+ F. heat in the summer.

In "winter" 50's F. I use the #16, #26 Liquid and enjoy the 4-8 weeks routine. This summer.....sealants topped with #16. (EX-P does look great with or without #16.)

when it comes to CARNUBAS if you dont mind waxing once a month or every 6 weeks then there is no problem. To answer your question about waxing in 100 degree heat,i wash my car early early in the morning then a ride to the beach a quick QD in the parking lot find a shady spot and a nice wax job then off for a swim......................WORKS EVERY TIME

Now THAT sounds like a plan.:D

Yeah, ALAN81, but you're in Alaska! (Mosca shows his ignorance by assuming it doesn't get to 100* there.)

I'm a die-hard carnauba guy, but for now I've switched to NXT... but that's not a sealant, it's a "tech wax".

I guess it depends on the color, darker colors i use carnuaba, lighter cars i go for the sealant. For the winter i will be using sealants on all the cars though.

If given the proper cure time I always like to use a good carnuba over a polymer sealant.

Using the Meg's line and depending on the color of the vehicle I use #20 or NXT topped with either #26 or #16. I haven't topped MPPP with anything but I'm sure the results would be super.

I do still like PS. I don't really mind re-applying once a month sometimes two or three times a month. :p The depth that it provides is very different I LOVE it. :xyxthumbs
