Anyone skip drying?...

Does anyone else here, when doing a full detail, skip drying the car after the initial wash? I've found that if I'm going to clay the car and polish it, then drying after the first wash just takes up time.....granted I do a lot of trucks so drying takes a little longer on them, but you know what I mean. I figure since I'm going to be spraying lube all over it and claying it and then doing a second wash before polishing I might as well just go straight to it since water spots aren't going to have time to really dry before being polished away anyhow......anyone else do this?

I always dry the car/truck and then use a leaf blower to get all the water out of the cracks. I use QD spray with clay and go panel by panel so I don't re-wash the car after.

One way to save some time is clay right after the car is washed and still somewhat wet....its not the way that I like but it would save time...I would still dry the car after that.

Here in AZ during the summer the water is gone so fast i have to run around trying to get it all done before it dries.

Why wash twice in the first case? Why don't you try claying after you rinse the car. You can use soapy water also instead QD, that way you can save the QD for a later use.

I don't dry if clay is the next step. I run a slow stream of water over the car to slough as much of it off as possible and I might even make a couple swipes with the California Water Blade to get the large areas semi dry. Then I use what is left to aid in claying. It saves time and there really isn't any point in drying the car if you are just going to get it wet again anyway.

Guess it depends on where you live, in AZ during summer months (or just a regular day) if its warm you will have water spots dried on in 5 mins of less, now that may not be an issue for you. If i could get away from drying I would.

I won't dry if I'm claying, it seems redundant and gets towels wet for no reason.

are you washing a section at time, i would think if you washed the entire car and then clay there would waterspots before you were done with claying.dunno just curios

If your in the shade, as recomended for any wash, and a cool day you shouldn't have any problems with water spots... atleast I haven't.

Exact same as me.

Seems just as I expected, that there is a pretty varied response. I guess it really just comes down to personal preference and what you're use to doing. I know if I'm not going to clay the car then I'll dry it completely before polishing, but when I'm gonna clay I'd rather save the drying towel for after I rinse the clay residue off. Just wanted to get the general consensus on that issue from you guys. Thanks for all the responses.
