Anyone own a 350z or know about them?

Oh yeh, the paint is really really thin, so grab a clear bra if you can. If you can't, you're going to enjoy looking at some rock chips. Sometimes I feel like my car looks like I just drove it through a fence.

So yeh, thin and soft paint.

:werd: Take it from a person who had the same issue on a 2002 Maxima. I was blowing up my dealer's phone trying to get the availability of the person who does paint chips every week or two.

I know Ive been babbling on about M3's lately. Tonight I went to the Nissan delaer to look at Murano's for my wife. Well I got to looking at the 350z's and ended up taking a black roadster out for a nice drive. Holy Cow!!! That car is so much more than I would have expected. THe nutshell is I walked out with a (fully refundable) deposit on a black Touring package roadster with black leather and 6 speed.

Any owners want to pipe up and tell me about your car and experience owning it? Any common problems, or flaws? ANy websites for the z's? What kind of performance numbers will they turn?

The Z is definitely nice. I own a G35 myself which is the Luxury side of the Z car. If you want a better overall car with a backseat, and a convertible, wait for the 2006 G35 Coupe Convertible. :)

z's an rx8s are both slow, the z runs a low 14 sec 1/4 and the rx8 runs a mid 14 sec 1/4. seriously though for that price id rather have a used corvette

:taking into consideration that you're from Michigan: :xyxthumbs a 350z actually runs in the high 13's... actually a better explanation is that it holds even with a WS6... up until about 110.

Unless Mickey Mouse is driving the WS6 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is driving the 350Z...stock for stock the f-car will pull away and stay away for the entire run. Sorry dude...but that's just the facts.

I would suggest that the initial comment bashing the times of a 350Z or RX-8 was not appropriate to the thread. If someone is considering those cars, perhaps drag racing is not the only factor they care about.

I suppose it's totally irrelevant now because LighteningSVT already made his choice, though. Everyone I've met with a 350Z has been very enthusiastic about it and very pleased with it. Perhaps it's because only people who are this way already are the ones buying them.

My personal opinion is that neither the exterior nor the interior is appealing to me, though the motor has a nice sound and good pull considering it's a V6. If it were my $30k, I'd be looking for something else. But if the car does it for you, then it seems you have a high likelihood of being very happy with it. :)

You cannot drive the car in the snow. Snow tires do not help much. So, if you live where it snows, do not plan to use the car in the winter.

Ask other owners about their snow experiences.

Just going by what I've whitnessed, sorry don't have any online "kill stories" or fast stats to back it up.

No flame intended on my behalf...I'm a big fan of the current 350Z and G35 platform...but the simple fact is that a stock 6 speed LS1 powered f-car vs. a stock 6-speed 350Z in a straight line for 1320 feet...the Z loses every time.

Here are the facts:

Curb weight: '05 350Z Anniversary edition = 3,360lbs ; '00 WS6 coupe = 3,397lbs

Advertised flywheel HP: '05 350Z Anniversary edition = 300hp ; '00 WS6 coupe = 320hp

Advertised flywheel torque: '05 350Z Anniversary edition = 260 lbs ; '00 WS6 coupe = 345lbs

0-60: '05 350Z Anniversary edition = 5.8 seconds ; '00 WS6 coupe = 5.0 seconds

standing 1/4 mile: '05 350Z Anniversary edition = 14.3 @ 101mph ; '00 WS6 coupe = 13.5 @ 107mph

'05 350Z Anniversary edition data taken from: http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=16&article_id=9269&page_number=1

'00 WS6 data taken from the December 1999 issue of Motor Trend magazine page # 51

Have enjoyed mine for a month now and will tell you, you cant go wrong with this car, its unreal.

As for the snow comments, I know and have talked to tons of people who run it from Northern Canada to New England to Michigan. As long as you through a good set of Blizzaks on it, you can drive it just about anywhere. Of course its not a 4x4, but who cares. This car rocks.
