Anyone "in the know" for Plasma tv's?

60" Pioneer Elite Plasma (waiting for the new 1080p version to come out)

Wow, you have some serious mojo there to afford a 60" Elite.

To me, the Elite series is always like super models - something to lust for from afar.

Only people I know who own these tvs are drug dealers (ok, they made their killing

during the first dotcom boom).

Actually, the prices have come WAY down. I remember looking at the Elite tv's back when they first came out, and if I remember correctly, they were about double the price they are now, or more.

If you think, a 60" Elite tv is a "super model", you haven't seen anything yet. Go into a dedicated high end home entertainment store, and be prepared to be blown away. You can spend 100 grand+ in those places without blinking an eye. For some people, the 60" Elite is just a bedroom tv. :shocked

By the way, I'm neither a drug dealer nor a tech guru. I just work hard and smart to afford the nice things in life, just like everyone else.

I agree with paradigm....I have a 42" Panasonic plasma with the EDTV and when hooked to an HD Comcast cable box...it is hard to tell the difference.

I actually just bought a 50" Panasonic Plasma (HDTV this time). I was looking for another plasma at the time and came across a sale at CC for a 50" Panasonic plasma...price was $2899.00 on sale for $1599.00!! You dont know how fast I looked at my local CC to make sure it was in stock and got down there and picked one up!! Couldnt be happier with the picture and the savings.

Put the 50" in the living room where the 42" was and the 42" made its way into the bedroom.

In the end..its your eyes that have to like the picture....dont go buying a plasma with a certain name on it..because "its the best".....doesnt always work out that way. As far as the burn in ...nowadays most plasmas have oscillating pixels...they move ever so slightly to keep the burn in from happening. Not saying it couldnt happen...but we are on the 7th generation of plasmas ( I believe) so they have come along way.

paul34,

thanks for the link! That definitely sounds like what I'm waiting for, the 1080p sets, not the 720's.
